Looking real good here Kenny! So unusual to see a walker in yellow. I’m curious to see what’s next...

Thank you, Carlos!
I did some touch ups and a clear coat, and decals are coming next. I’m looking forward to that.
Now, after decals, there’s going to be some dot fading and filters with the oils, followed by washes, and then pigments. That’ll take a while but that’s okay!

Thank you, Bruce.
I’ll tell you, brother. That custom color I mixed up sure does weird things. I found that for a consistent look, I had to mix it Yellow first, then Flat Eart, then White. Yellow last? It’d lean too yellow. Flat Earth last? Khaki. Weird. Also, how you spray it makes a difference too. Light, misting coats, it takes on a green look if you’re not too heavy handed. Marbled? You get patches of that yellow/braun building up and they build up quickly, and the thinner spots look orange until the paint sets up.
That could also just be the cold medicine. I’m really not sure.

OH! I forgot to mention the guns. Those’ll be painted-up nice and washed, too.

Duke,
Thank you sir! I had a lot of hiccups while painting this thing. That process was a definite learning experience for sure.
John,
Me too! From DAY 1 when I bought this kit, the desert scheme was what I wanted to do. It all started in a conversation with Bruce where he mentioned “that cool yellow color they used.” THAT is what set me off. That guy inspires me all the time. Anyhow, yeah, Bruce mentioned the color and my imagination went bananas. “What if Rommel has AT-AT’s and AT-ST’s?” And that was it. And I’m happy because so far, my vision has come through with this project.

Decals are on. 15th. Panzer Division.
I’ve never used Peddinghaus decals before. They’re okay. I had to place one and then cut it to go with the missing paint on the armor panel. Sharp Exacto blade got the job done and the decal gave me no problems. I’m hitting them with solvent now, as they’re shiny. The carrier film is thick. Not Tamiya thick, but not Cartograf lovely, either. And the crosses in the set weren’t correct. The thickness of the white was inconsistent and made the cross look screwy. So I used Tamiya crosses from my Panzer kit. It had several. I’ll keep bathing them in Micro Sol tonight, then let the whole thing sit. Then another clear coat.
The revised plan is now:
1. Address guns, exhaust vents, fans, cables
2. Salt fade
3. Oil dot fade
4. Oil washes
5. Figure out a way to correct that Godawful base, and plan to make this into a potentially larger diorama project maybe
