Bruce.. I hear ya. This year has been nothing but aircrafts building. Broke my own record from last year of 11 kits done. I did build only one vehicle - Roden 1/72 scale WW1 Pigeon Loft Bus.

I was also thinking about the early line of missile kits but I believe the prices for those are pretty high online. Good advice, Lyle. I’ll check out those kits to see if any strike a chord. During my hiatus I did find the Airfix sponsored Easy Kit assembly videos to be enjoyable. I always wondered how brush painting plastic sans primer works. Apparently with any Humbrol acrylic in a can dilution with water and essentially a skim coating first followed by more coats leads to success. I grew up on Testors enamel though. I love those glass bottles very much. Let’s see how deep a hole I can dig!

Yeah, Tom! I need to check out your projects! I also think you make a great point about variety within model building itself! That seems to me to be critical for developing ideas and techniques. Also I’m certain my skills have suffered during hiatus, so in my case a kit or kits allowing for some practice will be in order!

I’m just not sure what m’I gonna need for a restart here Carlos. Old kit, probably. Simple kit. Just don’t know. I’ll have to curb any thoughts of modifications and focus on proper techniques instead. Back to basics!!

I packed this project back in the box for now as I ponder what I should build without a real bench at the moment. I can sort of fake things but that robs me of any real pleasure and I know you know you all know that we build to suit ourselves most of all. Science fiction always makes me happy and the Grey Lady makes me smile when I remember all of the past builds of her but now I’m looking for something else, but I don’t know what. Any thoughts, Dear Reader? Where do you go when you’re not sure where you are? What choice do you make? I’ve been looking at car kits because of some safe advice I once received, something like the venerable pioneers kits or a hot rod from Aurora but I’m not sure if I want to or should begin anything until I identify more accurately what’s going on with me. Am I moving away from my beloved car culture surf rock culture film industry SoCal for Europe? Should I leave behind everything and just go? Will the next kit truly be the last part of my US based life? Good Gravy I missed writing 3:30 am wild thoughts online! Well what the dickens should I do??

Personally, I go to evil-bay and type in "Vintage 1/[my favorite scale]" and start scrolling until the lightbulb over my head lights up

Good idea! I tried this and I’ll keep trying it. Problem fit me is I don’t mind any scale; even box scale. Still—an interesting concept. Thank you, sir.
