I was wondering if this was a pre-red finish... I’m not sure it’s the same bird, though.

I am afraid, but I don't believe it's the same.. The background in the picture, seems to have some bigger hills or even some mountains ?.
Sint Truiden airfield (many times in my opinion wrongly referred with its French name St Trond), where Walter Wagner put his "white 11" on the ground would be a pretty flat region.

Also the Spitfire does not really "fit" in the picture, as Sint Truiden airfield was home of two US Thunderbolt groups (48th and 404th of the American 9th Tactical air force).

So I'm sceptical this is the White 11. Sorry !

Nevertheless, what the story is with this Fw190 intrigues of course now!

No worries, at the least it’s a little mystery. I saw another unusual acquired photo, too. I liked it although when listed online many did not — captures evoke a range of feeling pro or contra towards the captor...

I started today to construct the complicated engine panels.



While testfitting I realised that either the carpet monster, wastebasket monster or any other monster has taken piece nr B45 !!

It's gone, it's MIA... and I am afraid that its KIA ...



So what to do? I went on Revell Germanys homepage and filled a "Service Form", asking if they could provide me with the missing piece B45.
I really hope they will. To scratchbuild that piece is not impossible, but nothing I really would want to do... But let's see...

Nevertheless, this will not be a show-stopper... I will continue attaching the panels and continue "like nothing would happen", that I can !

Would a curved piece cut from a small plastic bottle work? My father would swear by 1 and 2-liter bottles of Coca-Cola for modeling curved sections of slot car windscreens. I used a piece of vac-formed plastic from a “Blister-Pack” of razors. A thinner piece might actually help you out, although I am digging your Tamiya taped cowling very much.

What a fantastic idea again Bruce!

I did not even think of any alternatives to my conservative approach using a flat piece of Evergreen styrene, to be shaped curved etc..

Just go for it, Kari. Keep your momentum. All you need is scissors to trim some samples... plus a good way to recycle (a most innovative way).

Meanwhile... knowing that painting red on black will need, besides a lot of paint, also a lot of time spraying... I thought, what a heck, I can start adding the first layer of signal red...

Oh my, this will take some time for sure. Half bottle of Mr Paint already "consumed" and as seen from the pictures, paint process very much in the beginning....

The inside of the canopy was earlier today getting a layer of RLM 66 and this evening the signal red layer on the outside.
Still hesitant to remove the masking vinyle, will let the paint really cure and tomorrow try to remove the sticky vinyl..
