Thanks Bruce! The cockpit was painted up with Citadel paints and I’m pretty pleased with it. I’ve been using those paints a lot recently whilst I’ve been playing the Warhammer figures and really like them – I’ve put together a collection with some very jazzy colours.

I should apologise really for anyone reading this thread – My heads been a bit all over the place recently and I’m finding it hard to settle to anything – this threads reflecting that.
Whilst I need to embrace the fact that I’m just the sort of person who has a lot going on at once, I really am really feeling the need to actually progress and finish something.

No need to apologize Stuart. I also feel exactly the same way. My mind is like a ship following the rolling waves of a storm and it's all I can do sometimes to wrench it back on course. I did a lot of that "wrenching" just to get my last ten models finished because I was also tired of having so many models under construction and nothing finished. I really did nee dot finish something and as I look around my bench, I still have another seven or eight models I still need to Finnish before starting something else. Having this severe pain between my shoulder blades sure ahsn't helped lately either!

Do what you gotta do Stuart, and don't apologize. Get something done; the relief and exhilaration at having finished something will be worth it.

Thanks Stik - Yeah things are going pretty well at the moment all things considered (well as well as they can be with an Autistic son and a highly strung Wife going through a mid-life crisis ) - it probably won't last so I'm just enjoying it while it does.

I've fancied growing a beard for a while now - just for a change.

Good for you! The beard looks great. You wear one quite well. And I know how family life can be. One thing or another is always around the corner. Enjoy the high points while you can!

Thanks Chaps, sorry for the late reply - it's been a manic weekend. I'm glad to hear nobody minds my mad flitting about!

That being said - I pulled a brace of kits from the stash this weekend to celebrate a major Airforce's 70th Anniversary this year - all 1/72.

Any guesses - what does , a knife, a pony, an Eagle and a Lion Cub have in common?

All aircraft flown by the Israeli Air Force.

Ok so here’s the backstory. Last year sometime I realised that it was the 70th Anniversary of the creation of Israel in 2018 and figured it was a good excuse as any for an Israeli Defence forces GB. I suggested this on another forum and although there was some interest it didn’t look like it was a goer so I gave up on it. However another lad on the forum decided he wanted to carry on with it and managed to scrape a GB together to start this month to also mark 45th Anniversary of the Yom Kippur war which he was particularly interested in.

Wind forward the best part of the year and the GB started on Saturday. I looked in on the GB boards out of interest to find that in the end hardly anybody had entered. Feeling guilty as it was me that suggested it anyway I decided to enter and make up the numbers – I’ve been wanting to build some IAF birds for a few years anyway.

So for the time being I’ll be building (all in 1/72) a Hasegawa Kfir and Skyhawk E/F, an Airfix P-51D and some form of short run Avia S-199 (Kopo I think – I haven’t got it yet).

I’ll probably also be building an A-4B as it was in the same box as the other Skyhawk and could do with being finished. Both Skyhawks, the Kfir and the P-51 have all been part started. All I’ve done with the Kfir is repaint the cockpit black.

The GB finishes at the end of October so it should be fun. As I've pinched the P-51 kit I was building for the Robin Olds builds I'll now have to get another one - however as it's a nice it you'll get no complaints from me!

The IDFAF and Yom Kippur War are two favored subjects of mine. Along with pretty much any of the other Arab Israeli Wars. Very fascinating case studies to the weapons and technology of each period, not to mention the men behind them.
As far as your riddle goes, I had a feeling about the pony, but the common thread and the rest of them all had me scratching my head.
I look forward to seeing these builds of yours .

I had two of the four correct; I thought I had three correct. I was thrown by the "Eagle" as the IDAF also had F-15 Eagles so that was my choice for that. I figured out the IDF part from the Lion Cub though, as I'd already built two some time back: a C-2 and a C-7.

I'll be watching this with interest, but if you want to do a mini-group build here; I also have an Israeli F-16i "Sufa" I could build for this as well. This would give me a great reason to start it.

I agree Stik - like you I find it a very interesting period and place. I actually have a fair few Arab State builds planned at some point.
