Leaving the flaps up would look ok too. That way you don't get delayed with trying to spice up the interior of the flaps with spars. I think you should move to the painting stage. Let's get that cockpit and engine painted up!

Hah! This photo is from your fabulous ZM 1/48 Ta-152. I was gonna quietly reverse engineer what you did here. Would you mind telling me? (Yes, I read your narrative again, but I still have questions.) if it’s not too much trouble, that is.

Also, I will put this here for you, John. Although this relates specifically to your Me 262 project, which I follow silently on LSP, I do feel strongly that opinions are not facts concerning dropped slats.

North American engineers actually used the slat locks from a complete 262 wing when they were putting together the slats on the XP-86.

"Finally an entire Me-262 wing was flown in from Wright Field. North American engineers disassembled the slats and modified the slat track mechanism to fit the XP-86 wing. The engineers also used the slat lock and control switch from the Me-262. Although not perfect, it was at least a start and the slat worked.”

The BMW engine was, now afterwards, the only part of my "late" Revell Fw-190 build I somehow was satisfied over...
But I also struggled to "find" the colors needed...

It was pretty straight forward, I painted everything first with Tamiyas X-11 Silver.
Then I washed it with the Ammo Migs "Engine, Fuel & oil", wiped off and re-washed.
The wash took off most of the shiny silver, making it more, sort of "dull".

Today I made the Dorniers Bramo engine, where the approach was different. I used Tamiyas Gun Metal X-10 as "base", did some very careful oilwash, and drybrushed some Tamiya X-11 silver.. Might be one round more X-11 drybrushing to highlight some details in the pretty nice Bramo engine ICM has succeeded to do...

That's a great quote concerning the 262... slat lock, eh? Seems to indicate that it was at least POSSIBLE to have a parked 262 with the slats in the up position. Makes me feel better of going that route.

I honestly can't remember what I did with the Ta-152 engine. It was a rush job since it was going to get covered up anyway. Your radial engine can be as complex or as simple as you want it. But short of an open engine cowling, this is the most you are going to see of the 190's engine because of that cooling fan.

A good paint job should suffice. Or maybe add wiring? I've been known to detail stuff that never sees the light of day so I understand both approaches.

Sorry for the absence the last couple of days guys as we went to the Model Fiesta show up in San Antonio. Had a blast! Been meaning to catch up in here. I've built an A-8 a few years back and ended up opening up the side cowlings to show as much engine detail as possible. These birds look great with the front two panels opened up.
