One recommendation for mixing RLM 76 from Tamiya paints is:
RLM 76:- XF2(White):7 + XF23 (Light Blue):1 + XF66 (Light Grey):2

Thank you so much, John! It occurred to me today that I should have picked the subject based on what paints I have in stock. Using that metric, I should be building a Studio Scale Red 2 X-Wing. It shows how much the greens and grays ILM used in ‘77 can be stretched to accommodate the Late War K Series. Best laid plans of mice and men, eh? Anyway, what a difference adding paint slowly makes. At least I can see where more experience in so doing will lead me in terms of a smooth finish. Thanks very much.

I added a couple of items to today’s list-

Looking for acceptable MG-131 replacements for the cowling guns;

Researching underwing mods (See photo below), which include adding empty wheel well detail and opening the ammo chutes:

Antenna mast/fuselage mounted ring antenna:

Rolling right along there, Bruce! Even if you didn't have the exact grey, having Tamiya Light Blue and White should get you closer to RLM 76 and the 1:7 ratio gives you an indication of how much lighter the shade should be.

I'm not sure this will help but I made wheel inserts for my 1/48 109K-4 out of sheet styrene to give the empty wheel wells a little more detail...

From the photo above, you can also see the modifications I made to the K-4 belly pan per Vincent K.'s correction article. Including the additional ammo chute for the nose-firing cannon. At that scale, I would consider masking them off and simply painting them black.

Vincent K! Thanks so much, John! I am extremely grateful for your ideas. Honestly this project is much better than it would be because of your ideas and support.

A care package arrived from Kentucky today! I found a little box jumping up and down inside the mail box! Inside I found four Pipettes and enough soft bendy metal to make a production run of seatbelts!!!!

Thank you, Lyle!! Thank you so much!!!

You betcha’ bottom dollar I am gonna be busy with belts now. Actually I have to lay out the masks for the top surfaces of each wing next, but after that... it’s belting time.

That metal looks like it will make great belts!
