And I found from multiple sources an answer I feared (
and yes, I should have known that as well )
But no problem, amazingly I had these two fellows "hidden" in my drawer.. Had totally forgot about them...

Ya see......I found out about this the hard way. Enamel over Lacquer is alright but NOT the other way around. Glad you were able to find an alternative.
This was when I was painting my ghost flames over my red '56 F-100 a few years back. The flames were lacquer and the base red coat was enamel. Thankfully.....it was a light enough coat that I got by with wet sanding the imperfections out of it and was able to clear coat it with decent results. It could've turned out a disaster though.

My goal is exactly like yours, Kari—build an aircraft before the end of the year. To that end, your work is of the highest standard! Since I have watched from your FB posts I don’t have the nitty gritty of each part of the assembly process. I see a beautifully molded kit and very careful assembly. Also I like the flourishes which are yours—the color modulation of the cockpit reminds me of a Singer Sargent painting—a flurry of strokes building the final impression, with glazes underscoring specific details. My fervent wish for you this outing is a finished aircraft on the shelf, and I am supporting you wholeheartedly in this endeavor, my friend.

Thanks for the bottom/top coat post. I always have to look it up outside of acrylic. Very helpful.

Hmmm…. I never use nor have any lacquer based clearcoat / paints in my stash to worry about it.
That’s a good thing I suppose.

True, I also need to look it up everytime, but now at least I know where to find it!
