Well this one will be Ukrainian. I don't do Russian stuff.
Nor Japanese...
Not completely true. Gundam are technically Japanese and I do have a F-4EJ that'll eventually be in Japanese markings.

LOL… you know I’m pulling your leg. Similar feeling to me as a kid… I wasn’t interested into doing WW2 Japanese or Russian aircrafts and armor. Now at my age (59), I’ve started to appreciate them. There’s a few other WW2 Axis subjects I’d like to do. One high on my wish list is the Tamiya IL-2 Sturmovick.

Funny how our tastes change. When I was a kid if it didn't have guns, bombs and missiles I didn't want anything to do with it. Now I'm big on trainers, transports and emergency service birds etc. Still like the big boom birds - just expanded.
I recently dove into axis birds. I've done 3 Japanese planes fueled by the Rufe ( love float planes for some reason ) and a few German birds and even an Italian fighter. I like doing airliners as well... so long as they're interesting. All that said I'd say 75% of my aircraft stash is USN/USAF/USMC/Army Aircorps attack/fighters.

I guess a lot of it has to do with growing up in the Cold War and especially in the 80's when we came to the brink of WW3. My dad was a big WW2 history buff so I grew up with that too. I've never been a fan of the "bad guys". It made it worse when Russia invaded Ukraine and when I read Geddy Lee's autobiography. His parents were Holocaust survivors and it details their lives in Chapter 3. That REALLY made me never want to do any Nazi Germany stuff.

I don’t mind Soviet subjects. They were the bad guys of my youth. And some of their stuff was presented to us in the army as true boogeyman stuff with their reputation of hard to kill. Maybe it was by late 70’s/early 80’s standards. Come 1991 and it lost that fearsome reputation… funny how the stuff I don’t want to model is, of all things, Iranian (I’m quite satisfied to see Israel spanking Hezbollah and Iran right now)… I guess i still carry a grudge from 1979/1980…. but if I can build Nazi, Imperial Japanese, or any communist stuff, I think I can manage some Iranian stuff one of these days…

As much as I dislike the Islamic Republic, I do like the “Asia Minor” camo that was applied to US built aircraft supplied to the Shah before the revolution. The Tomcat, Phantom, and F-5 looked really sharp in those colors.
