*cough* iphone7, one light, color corrected. I took this around 11:00 pm. I only had one light on; as I like to sand and smooth by feel anyway.

Two things matter: a good smooth white sheet of paper about 11x14, and the angle of your light source. I prefer when working to use bounced light. In this case the desk lamp is pointing at the ceiling.

I have shot side by side portraits in natural light with the iPhone 5c and the full frame beast A7RII by Sony. With processing, the client had no idea which shot was from the phone and which was from the camera.

I did this x-ray shot by downloading a white colored backdrop on my computer screen.

Experiment a bit, perhaps. Try to make a few “beauty shots” at the beginning and end of each model building session.

Bruce,

Duly noted, and thank you!!

Carlos,

You know, honestly, I could care less about the money. Don’t get me wrong, living paycheck to paycheck a lot of the time sucks. But at the same time, at least I have something to show for it. The light bill is always paid, there’s always food and beer in the fridge, my kids can always eat fish sticks and cookies for dinner if they’re not happy with what I cooked, and hey- we met our deductible!! HAHAHAAA Just in time for 2019.

What bothers me here is that Vance gets chronic ear infections and he has a constant cough that sounds like Asthma to me. He’s still a happy, bright, energetic little boy. It doesn’t slow him down, I just wish he didn’t have to live with that. So it’s the Pediatrician, the ENT, the Allergist, surgery, medicine, breathing treatments ... and no answers and nothing to show for all the bills that keep arriving at my house. One day it won’t be lean and I’ll be able to have everything I want. That’s fine. But right now what’s troubling me is that I keep throwing money at coughs and ear infections and my baby boy doesn’t get better.

It kills me. And his mother.

As a parent, I hear you loud and clear. My daughter has severe eczema and it's heartbreaking not to be able to take the discomfort away.

I should revise my comments from "better camera" to "better lighting". As Bruce clearly showed, excellent pictures can be obtained using a modern smartphone. You just need good lighting. All of my build photos are from a little point-n-shoot that I picked up from EBay for about $100. My model room is a converted garage with fluorescent tube lighting on the ceiling. I augment this with a couple of desk lamps with articulated arms.

I asked Mrs. Kenny X, who is every bit as OCD as I am, if they lined up straight up and down. She looked them over, and over, and over, and her verdict:

“They’re perfect.”

Whew. Now I feel better.

Cheers fellas. Merry Christmas.

You know that four letter word starts with an F... followed by U, etc. I just said that aloud and sighed. Unbelievably good work, bud.

Thank you brother. And thank you for catching this whole issue initially. That discussion we had made me a better modeler.

It's so great having a wife willing to help out like that. Way to go; she's a keeper. And I've always considered you to be a better modeler than I am, now I know why! LOL! :giggles: :lashed:

Congrats once again on getting those straight. Let's fly baby! :Bat:

You are very kind. But I wouldn’t go that far my man. You have a lot more chops than me in a lot of different areas that I’m just now learning and getting my head around.

And you got it my man, I run a lot of things by my wife. A whole lot of things. And sometimes I think she just humors me. I really do. But then again, after I’d been on my hiatus awhile, she did say to me “I really miss you talking about your models.” Come to think of it, seems like she’s always popping into my hole whenever I’m working on stuff, to ask me various questions about all manner of things. And she always looks over my stuff. And she never busts my stones about the time I spend with the models.... :hmm:

That’s because she knows where you are and what you’re up to there. Rather than in some watering hole with souls of ill repute... :giggles:

Decal issue resolved! Great work Kenny! I know the relief you get when you have to wait on the post to make the correction you want to make and it finally happens! The Emil is shaping up to be a stunning build. Looking forward to the finish line. Merry Christmas!
