Dang...………..you ARE getting a work out on this one Bruce. Sorry for the long absence guys. Was at my sons youth camp last week and I've spent the better half of this week recovering. Finally hit the bench this morning after almost two friggin' weeks of being gone from it. Felt good.

I do hope you get all of your blending, sanding and tire woes under control there bud. Back in and watching...…………...

Hey! I am glad you are back, Joe. The sanding is in good shape with the front but I missed a mesh detail—well, there is no real data that there is a mesh piece but I think there is.





This is a diecast version (Motomax?) in 1/12 but I do see the need for this area to be open to direct the air flow—a huge amount of air flow! and keep the car locked down to the road by the pressure at 200 mph.

I do have one kit front and one kit rear so my backup is to go exactly that route—but my primary is to get fatter Goodyear rubber all around to fill those big fenders. I posted a batch of Tom Petty / NASCAR Dodge Charger photos above because I think those tires and rims too may be the ticket.

I think with the addition of the kit quick change levers I will be gettin' real close to the Halibrand wheels.

I removed the strip of styrene where the blue arrow is. I apologize for not being more clear. I was pretty sure I could slice open the top and bottom glue points with a blade and pop out the piece itself (carefully). I was hoping that popping out that piece could be done with minimal collateral damage. The backside of the spoiler did split at the seam. That should be fairly easy to repair. I hope to fix this tonight. The other to do items are the side panels framing the air flow duct. Since I am am making this up as I go, I need to make these pieces next.

So to recap the “air flow box” is open at the front and closed at the sides; removal of the front piece cracked the seam line of the spoiler, which I need to fix with Milliput, and the sides of the box need to be fabricated from plastic card! Scratchbuilding is fun, right?

I also need a very small scrap of screen—I was sourcing Scale Scenics metal screens from the Walther’s catalogue online, which reminded me of the trains growing up—not necessarily the most helpful folk, the train people. I know those early experiences colored my expectations somewhat for modeling interests. I was thinking oh sod it I will just scavenge a scrap from an actual screen!! I just need to start hunting for a screen somewhere—or I will go to the local hardware store to see if they have any scraps....

TGIF. Thank you so much, Carlos. Please always ask! I find the greatest benefit of sharing the build documentation with you is twofold—clarity and refinement. I sincerely believe that the more interactive a buildup is, the greater the amount of growth. I feel that a lot of our masters here are quite extraordinary because they reveal their methodology; they don't hide it. I am not writing anything critical of our other masters who labor in solitude, but the public builds are always a gold mine for me, particularly yours. I think it was your K'Tinga build where you immediately started using Evergreen with your usual combination of casual, "This is what I've been doing since I was knee-high to a grape vine, so what?" and direct action that really inspired me to just go for it and stop thinking about going for it. Truly. I am not blowing sunshine not even a little bit; it's night anyway as you know.

I cleaned up the seam and added the Milliput filler to the join—I have to prop the hood vertically to avoid the effects of gravity on slow-curing Milliput. That is not a complaint—more of an observation based on having to do a lot of filling with this product.
