I ordered an can of Tresemme hair spray just for modeling. My wife has borrowed it a couple times

But she too generally doesn't use hair spray

No worries, Carlos! That’s what I get from making a comment from the Peanut Gallery, lol. You’re absolutely right. Although I think there’s some weathering and abrasion on the entire wing surface in at least two photos you shared. It’s definitely true that the wing walks look more intact. Bravo!
Carlos and John—rubber cement is fantastic. That’s how a lot of X-Wings were distressed. Definitely worth trying.

Carlos... you used Old Silver paint? What brand and who carries Old Silver? Definitely a silver I'd have in my paint stash.
It’s from the old Floquil line of railroad colors in the 1 1/2 ounce bottles Tom. Long out of production, so unless you find a model railroad store that still has old stock of the stuff, you’re out of luck. Sorry. I sure do miss the Floquil paint line.
I miss Floquil, too, Carlos. A superior formula, great coverage and strength! Why other companies can’t release at least the basic set of colors must come down to shrinking markets and rising production costs.

Very, Very Nice, Carlos! Great photos, to boot! I like seeing the difference in painted metal versus painted fabric very much! Bravo! Also, I think the gloss spray actual helped to somewhat distribute the peeling effect you made overall and also very effectively! Very, Very Nice!

Now that chipping's coming along nicely! For me those contrasts never getting old.

Thanks guys!
Well, I finally got the decals on, but they fought me bigtime.
They have said for at least 15 years out of the bag, exposed to temperature and humidity variations, and I neglected to add some Microscale Decal film at first, so the tail numbers shattered. The stars and underside US Army markings did ok once I coated them, but still had weak adhesion to the model, and didn’t want to snuggle down fully even with various decal solutions. This is the best I could get. I also sourced some replacements tail numbers from my spares bin… now I just need to do the flat coat, some final detail parts painting and construction, and remove the masking…

Carlos, oh that sucks. I always thought that was a great design with the bold typography. Looks like the “S” split all the way through, too, but you’re handling the situation well. And it’s an additional vote for whatever that decal film is called—what’s it called? Cheers
