Morning! Paint looks sharp. I was wondering what blue you used? Is that the blue Tamiya recommends?

Yessir, that is the paint Tamiya calls out. F-19, which I believe is “Sky Gray.”

Took some time on my lunch break to sand down a very small step on the fuselage aft of the cowling, get that nice and smooth, and also test-fit the cowl and stuff to the fuselage.





Just enough is visible in there to make it look cool. When I do my Hellcat I am going to attempt a wiring harness. I’m skipping that on this build because I’m already learning so much other stuff that I don’t want to mentally logjam.

I built the Revell Corsair and that thing wound up in the trash can 3 times. I was already too far along with it to do that as it was a Christmas gift to a really good friend of mine. Fortunately I finished the build with my sanity intact and a very happy friend.

No worries, mate. It’s quality work. Just as a reference—here is a color shot from the factory; it is kodacolor, the lighting is far less bright than the image you posted.

I think I could make that happen, too. With a bit of masking, and some mixing. Shouldn’t be too difficult, I’m gonna give it a try, because now that I see that, I don’t think I can enjoy it much how it is now LOL ... plus, it’ll look even cooler. I’ll give it a shot.

I am dancing around what kind of blue to paint my 1/16 GT 40 which is all the way down in the SPAM Auto section of the forum where Mustang Joe builds custom hot rods, street muscle and trucks... His work comes with the highest recommendation for integrity... and since he builds both cars and planes... it’s worth a stop. Edit; I am pretty sure you have been there... but still it’s an interesting place to catch techniques used in ways that apply to aircraft as well.
