Michel, I would appreciate if you could explain or show how you do such openings. I so far make use of micro drills but this doesn´t get as perfect as yours.

Thank you Portman for the nice words.

Thomas, I'm afraid I'll disappoint cuz no big secret here. I open up with drill bits and do the rest with a #11 blade. Lots of patience, lots of TLC. In the end I smooth out any roughness with a brush dipped in liquid cement. And I wear my optivisor throughout to see what I'm doing. If it looks OK through the optivisor it's guaranteed to look good without. Unless looked at by the One Million Dollar Man, perhaps. LOL

I Wanted to create some battle damage for my Falke. I used as a reference pics of tanks holed by anti-tank guns. I didn't go for the shredded look of mauled aircraft. After all, the Falke is an armored flying tank so I tried to replicate the pierced armor effect.

You can see in the pics the tools I used. Besides drill bit and diamond point I used a red hot needle to make the grooves of melted metal. I used a windproof lighter to heat the needle rather than a candle to avoid soot getting all over the place. Lastly I used some styrene melted with lacquer thinner (I always have a jar of it at the ready) to make the lip of melted metal around the hole.

Very effective - that should look really good under some paint.

no worries - looking forward to seeing it coming along.

These Falkes are pretty cool models, do they come from the Maschinen Krieger univerese? If so I've seen a few armored suit builds on another forum - they're all pretty cool.

Yep, definitely Maschinen Krieger, like the armored suits. There are plenty of Ma.K models types: robots, drones, hovering tanks, armored space suits, lunar walkers, you name it. And quite a few figures too. There's even a forum dedicated to Ma.K modeling: http://maschinenkrueger.com/forum/

Thanks for the link - I found some really interesting stuff - I really liked the Grav-tanks. It's expensive though - you guys must have bigger budgets than me!!
