Have browsed the progress on this one the last minutes. Seeing the interior detail grow and grow is amazing! The picture of the finished instrument panel is looking as if it was an after market part, it´s this well done.
There is only one point I would like to know. I see you don´t have an airbrush, and that´s just fine. Did you ever consider to partially mask the thin canopy framing, paint by brush and let dry, then partially mask the other direction of the frames and paint? Looking at the pictures the freehand brush strokes are almost twice as thick as the frames. Do you plan to go over this later?

Rarely i mask canopies because it's tedious and often , with brushes, the paint going under masking tape in some way. Good point to try with horizontal frames and vertical frames in second steps but the peggy have oblique frames too also the mixed kakhi (not used a ready color) avoid me to try this way .

In other cases , specially termoformed canopies i'm obliged to mask, as the KI-55 or the Ki-32, even in these cases after painting i needed to remove some excess with toothpick.





Other ways used microscale maskol passed with picktooth along the clear parts





Surely is my own way and can't recommend to others this method, especially with airbrushes

I didn´t know Amodel did such small Japanese aircraft kits. Always thought they only do monster kits for a few hundred bucks.

Thomas A-model does a full range of kits; my LHS has almost the entire range of smaller scale aircraft.

BsY, I also mask with a liquid masking agent on my canopies and windows. I use a liquid mask by Hobbico though which has been the best liquid masking agent I've ever used. I have never used tape. I do have a set of canopy masks that came with my C-46; I'll be trying them out for the first time.

Even with all that; I still can't get my canopies looking as good as I want.

Forget an update here, about a week or two ago.. nothing serious, just some postshading and light highlights on the kakhi color with drybrush:

Your build is proof that, for me, the Japanese had some of the most different looking but interesting planes flying back then. Lots of those are still missing in 1/48 or 1/32 scale.
