BSY, ye, I rather like them as well. This is the second one I have built and I have the Fa 223 in the stash. detail isn't great but nothing that can't be fixed. Its a shame they went under. I am still trying to get hold of two more of these gliders for other builds I would like to do.

I managed to get it all done over the weekend. But first here's a few pics of the finished glider before adding to the base.





I also added a few items inside, namely a couple of Bangalore torpedo's, a 50kg and 12.5 KG hollow Charge weapon and some rope to secure it all in flight.







And then the finished dio. Of course the exact placement of the figures is guess work, but it is based on a rather detailed account of Squad 8 in one of the books I was using. I think its about as accurate as I could make it going off the photo's available and the written accounts.

First, let me introduce Squad 8, Assault Group Granite.

Here, we see Squad leader Unger (KIA) along with Hooge (WIA) and Hierlaender heading to their main objective, Cupola Nord. They are armed with a 50kg and 12.5kg hollow charge devices and a Bangalore torpedo.



Next, Weinert has deployed his MG 34 and is putting down fire on the maintenance building that was firing on the German troops. behind him, armed with an MP 40,m is the pilot, Diestelmeier.



Meanwhile, Else (WIA) and Plitz move under cover of the MG fire towards the building.



And finally, Meyer (WIA) having been hit in the shoulder while leaving the glider, is laying under the wing.

















And there it is. Its taken me 20 years to get to this and 3 weeks to build it. It gives me more satisfaction to have built this than just about any other aircraft build, including Stuka's.

Wow, this diorama is a thriller in 3D!

I can hear the fizzling sounds of the bullets, the blow of the heavy packed men, the lament of the wounded.
Great idea, great composition and especially great interior work. Amazing for that scale.
If I had to find a faulty: The visible seam line on the wing roots. But that's all.

Thanks, glad you like it. I am so use to this scale now, I don't think anything of it. But I know for those that build larger, it can be a bit hard to imagine doing it.

When you say seam like, do you mean where the wing touches the fuselage or the one just a little in from that.

When you say seam line, do you mean where the wing touches the fuselage or the one just a little in from that.

Where the wing touches the fuselage, visible on the right border of the fourth picture. But it's macro, and macro is merciless.

mostrich, ye I see what you mean now, on the under side. Completely missed that. Luckily is the wing that's angled down, the other one looks ok. Thanks for mentioning it though, might teach me to pay a bit more attention.

portman, one of the reasons I picked this glider is just that. With guys going off in different directions, one wounded and one using his weapon, it just seemed to be the most dynamic one to do. that and this glider seemed to have no damage, so that was a nice bonus.

Manny, we are both agreed on that.

Lyle, it took a lot of reading up. I think I spent more time researching that I did building, but for me it was worth it, and I have learnt a lot more about the whole operation.
