These days I am happy if a kit has parts that fit where they should. I doubt I would have gone this far and try to cut and lower the flaps on a kit, at least without any after market as a reserve...

Lyle, I always try to roughen up any surface I am going to get Magic Sculp (a kind of Milliput) on. Gives it better grip.

not smiling now....CA won't grab a hold of anything, except my fingers. I look like Edward scissorshands. I think it has taken about 30 minutes to get one flap to stay put. sheesh.

Thomas, it was a pretty rough surface - the rough cut of the saw. I love this hobby.

With this much super glue on your fingers you easily could do free-climbing...

Lyle, I really respect the fact that you have the guts to attempt scratch work such as these flaps. I do have a suggestion to work mostly in styrene for work of this sort. It bonds so good with kit parts with good hot liquid cements. Evergreen and Plastruct are your friends.

Thanks, Stik. I finally got enough of a grip to tape it and apply more CA. I think too much squirted out and it just could not cure. I boogered it up a bit trying to "rout" out some of the wing so the flaps would fit a bit better. Ehh, one side sort of ok.....other, Hey one side was sort of ok.

They are in place, along with a generous coat of Perfect Plastic Putty (try saying that six times after a bottle of Scotch), smoothed out with a wet paper towel. I will hit the whole thing with some 0000 or 000 steel wool to take care of the excess and work on the surface. Once I'm happy, I'll scribe a line along the flaps.










This is my handy dandy don't break off the tailwheel protector. It is a piece of a top from an insulin pen. I have dozens of those, in two attractive colors.

Coming along well enough. The dropped flaps give a nice added visual interest.

That's a thought. I also have zillions of little shiny tabs that were on the needle pack and bunches of little "hollow pegs" about 1/2" long. A regular A/M store.
