ok, work has been continuing very slowly but surely with the part-33

I took Bruces advise and made the "bulg" of 3 layers of Evergreen


Work continued with brush painting "details", using Gunzes shining aluminium, Tamiyas X-1 and finally some rust colour by Revell.


As explained / justified / validated, the result don't need to be 100% copy-paste of the original product (which is by the way on the right side ), the rim really hides it... :-)
The diameter of the copy is, after too eager sanding, 1 mm smaller. As a number it's not that much, but unfortunately in percentage it's 9% smaller..

Beautiful work, Kari. No question. Also you are most kind, I was trying for simplicity and you made quick work!! Will the disk size difference even be noticeable?

Thanks Bruce and nope, I don't think it will visible. I made some very dryish "dry fitting"-fittings with the help of lumps of blue tac, to keep the entire front suspension system in place.. Even if I would turn the front wheels fully, one can't really see anything there. So, I am fine with it!

The front suspension is very simplified and might need some improvment...
The part the arrow is pointing out should be a spring.. So some scratch work still to do..



And cheers for the link! Very inspiring, especially now when some sort of breaklines need also to be added.

I'm not 100 percent on this, but my instinct tells me that this sprue is the same as yours. So, bearing that in mind with the moment of truth at hand, is the part you are referencing #5 from this sprue?

Yup, it's exactly and precisely the same sprue so #5 is the part(s)

Just catching up with this thread.

That's a great bit of scratch building Kari, I doubt you'll be able to tell when they're on the model - I'm had pressed to tell between them now.

Nice choice of colour. I'll be interested to see how you paint it, I'll be taking notes

How are you going about building up the running gear and chassis? I can't decide if I should assemble first and then paint, or paint bits as I go along.

Regarding the paint, I am afraid it will not be an easy task.. to get it not only shiny and nice but also smooth..
Have you decided the colour of your Triumph ? Single colour, but which. Bruce sent some very nice (and crispy) options in the Color chart...

And that is a good question! I have been thinking the same for a while now and have decided to paint bits & pieces first and then glue them. Of course this means, that the building stage halts before all necessary paintwork has been done. And now it's sort of halted.. I would need to paint the bottom and the visible parts of the engine first, before I can add the front suspension.
