Re: 1/32 P-47 Thunderbolt
I would imagine that the bottom P-47 is OD over Neutral Gray. The white tail (or occasionally polished bare metal) was a SWPA 5th Air Force ID measure for single seat single engine fighters. Once aircraft started arriving in NMF, new ID marks, usually black bands, were incorporated.
"Surely I have made my meaning plain? I intend to avenge myself upon you, Admiral. I have deprived your ship of power, and when I swing 'round, I intend to deprive you of your life."

While studying more detailed information regarding the P-47 Bruce is building... I found a very interesting "book", The Pilots manual for the P-47!
Pretty many close-up pics of the cockpit...

"dry studying" of the future project continues...
I had already planned to invest in an AM instrument panel for my Fw190 build, but as I could not find any IP's from Yahu, that never happened.
Not a big thing though, pretty satisfied using decal + bondic.
However, Yahu makes a gorgeous instrument panel for the P-47 and that looks really really good!

Re: 1/32 P-47 Thunderbolt
Kari,
That is a beautiful IP!!! And likewise, I feel your FW IP is fantastic. What I appreciate is how you approach the project. This pre-visualization work is essential and most satisfying to read in a thread.

Re: 1/32 P-47 Thunderbolt - PARKED for the time being
As some of you might have noticed, for some reason I have on my bench a Spitfire...
This means my P-47 build has been postponed a little bit, not for ever, as next week some AM stuff for the P-47 is arriving...
But for the time being this thread will be parked..

Re: 1/32 P-47 Thunderbolt
Again, no worries, my friend. I have a Trimaster Dora partially assembled after a major period of adaptive corrections; I revisited and reviewed her status last night and still see areas to improve, and although this is a subject that you are parking in the corner with a few aftermarket pieces, this feels very much the same line of reasoning to me.
However I did read a very interesting build up in 1/32 using a rare resin upgrade kit (at least I think this is rare, I tracked the rare resin kit maker on a 1/32 Mustang build); and I thought of you, and of myself because after the furious pace of construction the modeler rushed through the painting and weathering, as though the real juice for him was in modifying and understanding the a/c in the way only modelers do, and after the pieces were glued he had left a piece of his soul behind...

Re: 1/32 P-47 Thunderbolt
The Yahu instrument panel (a-m-a-z-i-n-g detail level) and gun barrells arrived!
Now just a kit is missing + time as first need to finish the previous builds...
but look at this Yahu jewel !!
