Das ist wahr. The article mentions that also. But he did state that it was normal to see black, occasionally. I like the look of that. But I also like that green. I can’t explain why. It’s like some of those other nuanced things in this hobby, it just *does it* for me, that green.

And damn it. I can’t believe I used a Japanese green for the cockpit of my son’s Warhawk. That tears it. I’m gonna do a Warhawk Do-Over at some point in the future.

I’m an idiot sometimes.

Yeah, I like the two tone black and interior green as well. Gives the interior more visual interest.

This is why I love cockpit from RAF jets in the 1950s/60s - black black and more black!

Great looking Cockpit Kenny!

Another one eh? Be careful with taking on too many projects at once, Kenny! Not saying this will happen to you but I can see how too many plates on the fire can lead to none of them ending up cooked.

The Corsair is a great subject. I've got the Tamy 1/32 F4U-1a on my shelf for a future build but am hesitant on starting it due to my unfamiliarity with this beast. And it IS a beast.

John,

Yeah man, and that could indeed happen to me if I’m not careful.

I’m not starting any more until this one and the Stuka are complete. It’ll probably take that long for me to get my PE parts for my next Emil anyway LOL

These may help inspire:

As I am balls yknow deep in the Mustang build the greens of the cockpit possibly include bronze green. From gathering data on B and C Mustangs there was an initial design of a bright yellow or green that quickly became muted and then more or less made monochromatic by the final K version. I will follow your actual painting very closely...

Here is a great shot of (correct me if I am wrong) interior green:

Here’s what I ended up with. This is Tamiya XF-4 mixed with Tamiya Flat Black, 5:1, them heavily thinned and sprayed over black.

It’s interesting. Under this light it looks like this. Outside in the sun, it looks more yellow.

This was all I could do today before it began raining.

Also- note that I attempted this with Tamiya Flat Yellow and Flat Green 1:1, which is what the instructions call for. I didn’t take pictures though, because it was absolutely hideous.

See here, same paint, different light. Looks closer to what you posted, Bruce. And incidentally, that pic was what I was using as a reference!

You’re in Louisiana, of course it rained today. If it does not rain there for two weeks, it’s a drought... :tease:

That PBY photo is a great reference for Interior Green. And your mix came out pretty good. Once all the weathering and such are on, it should look just right.

And for a little more inspiration, the most famous group of Corsair pilots ever, the Black Sheep...
