And Bruce, I was unaware those existed! And knowing me, I am now itching to try them ON ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING HAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!!

Oh shit, one more thing—

Last time I made a royal mess of a Corsair, it was due to the fact that I was in an extreme hurry. I accept that.

So check this out-

Like I said before, ”MINISCULE CHIPPING ON THE FENDERS, AND FRONT.” The littlest of the bare minimum. And that said, here’s how I’m going to do it:

1. Lay down the AK Interactive chipping fluid over select few pre-sealed areas (I’ve already sealed them).

2. Let the AK dry while I hang out with my wife on the couch and watch an episode of the new Sabrina The Teenage Witch on Netflix. I seriously can’t get enough of that show.

3. Resume painting, to completion: 2 more marble coats of German Grey, some highlights with lightenend German Grey, then blend coat.

4. Let dry overnight.

5. Commence BARE MINIMUM MINISCULE CHIPPING tomorrow during the babie’s naptime.

I want to see if this works before I try this out on my Corsair. I want to separate the painting process and chipping process as much as possible. I’m hesitant to do them back-to back because that’s how I boned the whole thing and screwed the pooch last time.

Worst case scenario: it doesn’t work after the paint has dried for several hours and I end up with no chipping on a tank that didn’t get a whole lot of chipping anyway.

Best case scenario: it still works and I get a miniscule bit of chipping on appropriate areas which will add a bit of interest to my model AND I’ll know that this method will work on my Corsair and that’ll increase my likelihood of success on that project too,

See there? I get to win on all fronts. I like that.

UODATE: Painting and modeling activities as well as social media activity for this evening is being suspended in order for me and Mrs. Kenny X to enjoy a spontaneous Date Night instead. We’re arranging a sitter to hang out here and we’re going to our favorite restaurant, so painting is auspended until nap time tomorrow, and I’ll adjust the plan accordingly.

And Bruce, I always enjoy and appreciate your feedback and candor, I’ll read it with fresh eyes tomorrow morning and respond properly then.

Oh man, we had a lovey evening. Don’t get me wrong, lads, I love my kids. But I’m a husband first, then a father. I like to make my wife happy and I enjoy every moment with her.

So I caught some time here before the day is over to contemplate my projects while Mrs. Kenny X does her night time routine- makeup removal and all that. I’m so happy with how my Corsair and Panzer are coming along. I snapped some shots. The first are the models and the new ukulele my Father In-Law sent me. It’s a Martin. A lovely-sounding instrument. The second is me, after playing a few blues riffs and a jazz chord progression I been working on. This is my jazz uke. I also have a concert size Lanikai uke that is strictly for the blues songs I wrote, and CCR covers.

Yeah. That makes a lot of sense. Why test stuff “In Production”, you know? I can grok that.

This experiment is safe, but moving forward, I’ve got a mule on a shelf I can use *cough* my first Corsair *cough cough* so yeah, I’m going to do that. Because ultimately you’re right- why test stuff on a real build for another build when you can test it on something you don’t care about? It doesn’t make sense. So groovy! I’ll make that a part of my methodology moving forward. And THANK YOU!!

Okay! Got the paint on the upper hull, and I’m happy with how it came out. Now we wait, because I want to see what happens when I do t go and try to chop it right away. And as I said, it’ll be minimal.

Kenny, I finally caught up with this. This is some brilliant work on that tank man. I commend you on your technique so far. I only wish my life was more predicable so I could make plans like that with a reasonable expectation of following them. You're looking good man, it's nice to see another musician in the crowd. I'm more of a singer though; I just joined my church choir this past week.

Looking forward to seeing more. I'm following this one closely now that I found it.

And here’s an update! NO DICE on the chipping:


I am inclined to think I waited too long.

HOWEVER- it could very well be I didn’t put enough chipping fluid on there. Or maybe there’s too much paint (though I doubt it).

Anyway, this doesn’t bug me at all. And I have a paint mule here I can use here for de-bugging. In the meantime, I’m still very happy with my Panzer and how it’s coming along.
