Okay...wings and horizontal stabs are on. Primer is on. Tamiya x-2 and x-7 (gloss white and gloss red) are to be here today. So, time to get busy livin' or get busy dyin' (bonus, name that movie this quote is fron).



My plan for the scalloped edges is this. Cut masks, paint after burnishing very thoroughly and sealing.

This is a wing from the Lindberg kit. cut a mask on Mr. Sihlouette and just brush painted some red. The decals already have the black pinstripe edging as needed, but nothing is included for the rest of the paint job.



With the Sihlouette software, trace the scalloped edge, make the line wider and print on clear paper. You get the outline.



Hey, i just found out that Tamiya XF-7 Flat Red is water soluable! Don't ask. Anyway, cleaned that off and we will try again and with a fresher sheet of clear. Seems running through the laser several times affects the paper....

i think it looks fine!



Okay, maybe not so much. I trimmed it too close and it folded up into a mess on the one side. Done a bit differently, it may work. But, at $2.00 a sheet now for the paper....not sure how many tests i will do.

Oh, i also discovered that using 70% ISO rather than water will totally wreck decals. Yes, i grabbed the wrong bottle to use.

Making progress on my journey with getting masks/decals for the wings and fuselage. Found a 1/72 image that had most of what i wanted. Especially, the wheel pants. I could not get my old PS 7,0 to resize as i wanted, so i brought it into Sihlouette Studio software and did that.



Printed it out, mounted it on the PixScan mat they conveniently sell. . . and took a picture. The software will import and deal with this.



For some reason, it would not let me calibrate it, i'm sure I missed something, but plowed ahead, traced a cut area and turned it loose.



Not too bad, really. Just a tiny wisp of white showing outside the black pinstripe. If i print on clear, it won't matter. If i print on white (for more opacity [?]), it should blend in with the white paint. Still need to work on the sizing of the wheel pants cuts. I will likely print a block of red in order to have some to fill in where needed...

Now for the fuselage markings. Took Bruce's advice and I'm letting the primter cure / harden for another day or so.
