Looking good!

Should the black on the grill be a flat black? I'm thinking it should be. . . now that I have painted it.

Looking good. Instead of bleach try the yellow can easy off. Wear gloves! Yes, the ss grill is flat black. With chrome bars. I would use thinned flat black paint to fill the recesses.

After I used thinned gloss black, it dawned on me.

Paint black, wait to dry slightly, take q-tip and wipe excess black off chrome bars.

Exhaust looks GREAT Lyle!!! Perfect!! For a wash on the block I'll usually us a light wash of acrylic black and water for enamel based paint jobs or a solvent based wash for the acrylic paint jobs. It's gotta be light though. Looks like you did pretty dang good for what you used here so I'd go with what you've got on the block.
I always use an acrylic black for the grilles. That way if you make a mistake you can generally wash it all off with water, dry and then you get a second chance.
Also the black wipes off alot easier if it's acrylic.

That is pretty much what I did. I have a fine striping brush that just fit between the bars.
