Masked and painted the black stripes topside wings. Somehow during the masking, I broke off the cannon tip. Now to tear down the bench and find the damn thing later tonight

Next, moving on to the fuselage black D-Day stripes.

Could not find the cannon tip anywhere. Going to forego buying metal cannon as replacements. Since I have the Typhoon car door type kit, I’m stealing it from that kit. Compared instruction sheets and they’re basically the same exact guide and same parts numbers as the teardrop canopy type I’m currently working on.

I’ll buy the metal cannons for the car door Typhoon kit instead.

Early Typhoons had the exposed barrels. Later - like this kit - had the shrouded barrels.

Both Typhoon kits are Hasegawa kits and the car door type is exactly the same as the tear drop canopy. Both have the same sprue trees and part number designations. Obviously, Hasegawa didn’t bother to mold correct barrels but only changed the canopy and cockpit shroud for the car door type. Everything else are the same parts-wise.

I’m glad you brought that up regarding the cannons on the early Typhoons. Otherwise,I wouldn’t know the difference. Thank you.



With Syrcon coming up in October 22nd, I’ve already made out a wish list of what to find:

Hawker Tempest Mk.V and possibly Mk. I or II

Devastator - I want to complete my dive bombers collection of WW2. I’ve already done the Helldiver, bought the Dauntless at last years Syrcon. The Devastator is on my list.

F4U Corsair - Pappy Boyington’s steed.

As long as I’m in a BlackSheep Squadron mood, I’ll be on the hunt for the A-4 Skyhawk and a Harrier. (never built a Harrier jump jet before )

P-8 Poseidon

Decal sets for Pax River for both Poseidon and Orion kits. Decal sets of other subjects too.

If I’m lucky, maybe I’ll find metal gun barrels for early Typhoon

Car kit or two from my youth years.

Who knows what I’ll come home with. I’ll definitely will buy more raffle tickets this time around to increase my chances of winning a door prize or two. I am hoping a vendor will have AK Interactive paint pens for sale. Wouldn’t mind picking up a couple colors.

For the A-4 and the Harrier, Hasegawa.

Now the P-8 Poseidon, there's a Hasegawa one which is just a 737 kit with new decals and some of the correct lumps and bumps. They're hard to find though (actually Sprue Bros has it). The other is the BPK kit and it's around $150.

Check your sources for the aircraft you want to build Tom. The Typhoon underwent constant upgrades and not all Car door aircraft had the unshrouded cannons.

Devastator is a torpedo bomber. Maybe looking for a Vindicator. Accurate Miniatures kit is pretty nice
