The Revell kit positively offers much bang for the bucks.

Anyway, converting it into a DJ requires some decent mods - depending on your personal demands, though.

As for the plans... I know about the missing EFTs of course and the avionics have to be changed. Do you have any sources maybe whats to be changed?

F-15D/DJ vs. F-15E


The DJ lacks the ALQ-135B antennae at the rear end of the tail booms and the ALQ-128 EWWS pod on the port tail fin. The DJ only has a mass balancer on the top of each tail fin. The ECM antenna fairings on wingtips and at the rear of the tail fin are black.

Cockpit - DJ vs. E

As to the instrument panels, worlds collide. Apart from the different layout, the shroud of the F-15E's instrument panel differs significantly from those found on A/B/C/D models - bulkier and different cross section.

Main landing gear
The E-model has a strengthened main landing gear to accept higher aircraft weights. Accordingly, the E has larger tyres (36"x11") and and a slightly altered and larger 8-hole wheel disk.

The F-15E also has slightly bulged MLG doors to accomodate the larger wheels. I'd rate it "negligible", because the MLG doors will open face to face, so it's barely visible.

I could extend this list ad nauseam, but I think I'll stop here.

Now thats exactly that thing I wanted to avoid - I could neglect the MLG. I could scratch the tail fins. But I dont have the correct cockpit and need a spare part.

Aires? Hasegawa? Something else... Darn. Modellbau Koenig and my LHS has none of them. Phew!

OK, it's three times as much as the Revell Mudhen, but on the other hand it's an all-round carefree package.
And it's on stock.

Yep, I know that shop owner for some years now and Ive seen that DJ there. Possibly I have to get me that DJ as well.

BTW - I added some bolts on the stock wheels, 16 each.

Well well... As long as the new Hasegawa F-15 isnt here, I cared about the base - its made from painted cardboard with a handpainted logo on the bottom.
