Lol! Unlike Tom I HAVE built a Zero... but I've yet to build a 109... :bag:

But I agree with that Carlos - It's got to be in the top iconic WWII fighters.

I finally have some progress worth posting on this one.

I started with a silver base color for the Aotake that will go in the non crew areas

While that was drying overnight, I started cutting out the fuselage side windows that Nichimo had molded as solid recessed areas

The next day I added a coat of green Aotake over the silver base in the areas of the fuselage that will be visible, and in the wheel wells. I used Tamiya XF-71 Cockpit Green with a bit of XF-5 Flat Green for the “Bamboo Green” of the cockpit. As well as Rubber Black as a base color on the radio equipment, Tamiya Lacquer Flat Aluminum as a base color on the engine

Now I can start all the detail painting in the cockpit. I am still deciding what to do regarding the seat, as the pilot and bombardier/observer seats are pretty weak. The gunners seat is usable with a little work…

Interesting insight to see your choice of Aotake Green. I’ve always thought most were Aotake blue.

I was doing some research and it seems that Japanese aircraft companies used both green and blue shades of Aotake… even on the same airframe. I just went with green for this one.
