Revell 1/32 He 219

the wing span on this is about 24 inches and close to the same in length for the fuselage. I put about 3 oz of lead sinkers behind the pit but some how I don't think that will be enough. this is going to take a bunch of flippin paint and I dont think the make that much RLM 76 any more. The painting will probably take about a week non stop in itself and then all the stencil data and weathering.

All I can say now is this better be a good finish

For kits of this size I usually have at least two fresh bottles of each camouflage paint ready. I order them the same time to prevent getting two bottles of the same colour looking different when dry. Wonder how I found out...

That's looking really great man. You're right it's going to take a lot of paint. It's roughly the same size as the Ju88 which took a ton, but at least it was 3 colors...I suspect you'll got through at lease one bottle.

Does this kit have marking options for one of the ones with the black underside? I really like the look of those, but I'm a little worried about painting black with depth and character.

I am going to get a couple of bottles next week but as for the black under belly, yes it does but the one I am shooting for doesn't. It all has to do with the type of radar antennas that it has. This plane was equipped with different things and for one that wasn't produced in mass quantities it boggles my simple mind. I may have to pop for the brass antenna arrays and resin wheels

I am not aware of a He 219 with no nose antennae... I got turned metal ones for my two ZM He 219´s.

According to "The Heinkel He 219 'Uhu' - A Detailed Guide to the Luftwaffe's Ultimate NIghtfighter", Valiant Wings Publishing 2012, the He 219 V1 to V3 and V5 prototypes flew without antenna.
V18, used for tests with the Jumo 222 engines and four blade propellers, may also have flown without radar fitted.

On some of the post war pictures radar equipment's missing. Maybe dismantled by allied personnel for secrecy reasons.
