What primer did you use?

Its ridiculously easy. take a paint jar or something similar you are gonna use to receive the spraypaint, tape that shut (i use tamyia tape). Then take a straw and tape that to the spraycan. Stick the other end of the straw through the tape on the jar and start spraying the quantity you need.

Let that jar sit for a few hours so the propellant gas can get out. Dont worry about that paint drying, it wont.

Good part is that the spraypaint is fully airbrushready, no thinning needed

I never used this decanting trick. I never had to. I usually make use of Alclad´s Grey or White Primer & Filler. These come in glass bottles and are ready to be airbrushed.

Slightly been procrastinating after all the new years festivities (read: detoxing). But i did put down the white layer and just now added some black preshade.




Once i get some extra benchtime i will be starting on the modulated dark yellow!

The more i am thinking about how i am going to attack the color modulation with dunkelgelb on this hetzer, the more i come to realise a thing...

The amount of airbrushing involved with layers of shadow, base and highlight will likely remove all the preshading effects unless i can lay down the layers very thin. A good learning experience and i am eager to find out. Black basing as i currently imagine would have been much more effective.

So far I never have used this "black basing" method as seen by others. All my tanks got a got grey primer to check for flaws. After this the camo colours had been added and that´s all. Will maybe try on my next non-flying target.

It really does work Thomas. By simply varying the amount of paint you lay down afterwards on certain spots you create shading and chromatic variation in an otherwise dull even coat. You can probably do that over the grey primer too but the effect will be less evident and harder to achieve
