For the record, I think the Nikon vs. Canon thing is rather like photography's Ford vs. Chevy. Both broadly equivalent, it just depends on feel and which "tribe" you're in. Though I will grant, in point-and-shoots, Canon owns Nikon.

Paint went down tonight. Again, this is Mig's AMMO...specifically the Green Khaki out of the Modern Russian set. Still feels broadly similar to Vallejo or Lifecolor...has a nasty tendency toward separation. Not a big deal, but it's impossible to get a sense of when it will occur so it's tough to correct. Still like it for big base coats but I'd be very hesitant to use it for, say, freehand camo or mottling or the like.







Next up - the camoflage. Still not sure if I'm going to try to freehand it or use white tack.

Also reached that wonderful milestone tonight of being able to dump a ton of empty sprues back into the box. Now have room on the bench to potentially open up the T-26, particularly if the forecasted rain hits.

Matt, this "Canon vs Nikon" thing is a running gag between me and Lyle that has its origins in the old place. No worries, we are fine!

Never have used AMMO paint myself, but reading of your experience it doesn´t sound too inviting to give them a try. On the other side the colour application looks beautiful. I like this satin sheen!

I've been stressing about how I would possibly mask this delicate beast for camoflage...visions of white tack lifting off ERA blocks and other fiddly bits...when I finally decided screw it...freehand time.



At this point I'm shifting away from the AMMO paints. Like Vallejo and Lifecolor, I find them solid for single-color jobs. But tip clog and just the vagaries of the water-based acrylics in general have always stymied my attempt to handle fine camoflage with them. Now, Tamiya, on the other hand, thinned with Mr. Leveling Thinner...

Got my start tonight with a 2:1 Flat Black to NATO Black mix. Not too shabby.





Tomorrow I'll be moving on to the gray...which is far darker in pics I've seen than the almost white gray in the AMMO set.

Nice application of the black mix. Obviously your Iwata does a fine job here!
