Truly elegant work sir! Almost time to hit the lakes here in Mn again once the ice is gone. Hopefully it will be clear before the crappies spawn.

That’s pretty mind-blowing work, John. The color of the crank case looks just right, you did a great job on the magneto, but of particular interest to me is the bolts and other hardware. The precision with which you painted those is great and the realism you’re getting as a result is fantastic. I am thoroughly enjoying watching this project.

Them bolt heads was the first thing to jump out at me as well, they really pop.

Having the right paint for detail painting makes all the difference. For picking out silver details, pick up a bottle of Testors Chrome Silver enamel, if you don't have one already. It's the old skool stuff and is still the best silver for brush painting that I've found. It makes detail painting very easy... try it!

Work on the Corsair engine continues. After one failed attempt at attaching the wires to the wiring harness using CA glue, I used clear UV epoxy.


The cylinder covers and push rods have been painted.


The exhausts were painted Alclad Exhaust Manifold.


Here's the wiring harness after some painting. The harness itself has been given a dark brown wash to bring out some of the small details.

Wow. For a second I thought you made a fishing bait.

Whoooo! Bolt heads like jewels, exhausts and ignition wires never looked better—and frankly yes I have the utmost respect for how you did all of this. Gorgeous!

Great looking color on the exhaust, I've never heard of that color from alclad going to have to look into it.

I am almost sorry John, but I don't find enough of words describing this excellent build so far.

Can just silently watch and enjoy the outstanding work you do.

I see it, I don't know how you painted all that little detail. I love it. The Alclad exhaust color may have to be added. The best "out of the bottle" I've seen.

Thank you gentleman! Finally got around to masking and painting the engine cylinders. After a base coat of black, I used Alclad Duraluminum for the main metal color.


After I picked out some details using the paint brush, I gave the engine cylinders a gloss coat. A dark grey wash was applied to pop the detail.



Not quite ready to assemble the engine just yet but wanted to check out how things look with some of the separately painted components together.
