Man, I used to spend HOURS wargaming

Oh Carlos, that is one of my dreams that will never come true: having a barn-sized building to build a full terrain, structured wargame table that will fit most; if not all, my armor and helicopters.... and even some of the smaller aircraft.

Lyle if I could afford one, I would!

Modelcrazy, I sometimes still do..... or at least did when we were allowed to get together for a game.

Yeah, many many years ago I had a concept to do 1/35 wargaming...

Interesting that you should mention that Carlos; I remember a website long ago showing pics of one guy's wargaming in 1/35th scale in his 'modified' backyard. He had 'terraformed' it with scale plants, buildings roads and such. Most fun to look at; I just wish I could remember where that was.

When I was stationed in Hawaii.. Oahu, in the mid 90's. I would meet a few several other guys on Schofield Barracks on Friday nights at a room the on base library let us use. We'd play everything from Warhammer, Napoleonic, modern (at least mid 90's) armor, WWII armor, modern and WWII ships, Star Trek, and several others I don't even remember. We did play a 1/35 WWI game. I was mostly platoon level but were able to have an armored car on occasion, sdkfz 222, M3 etc. They posed quite a problem for the opposing team.

Massive amount of work on the Akagi this weekend, well not so much yesterday. I've been logging hours since I started and I'm up to 21. I'm afraid to find out just how many hours of my life will be spent building this thing.[:S]

I spent about 2 of those hours working on the two 13m special landing craft boats, adding PE, weathering, drybrushing, just to find out one will probably never be seen and the other can barely be seen through the aft port section of the hull. Oh well, at least I know they are there. I also started black basing and spraying the base coat grey to areas that I won't be able to get to with the AB. I know it doesn't look like much work but it is. Most of the work is looking through the three sets of PE instructions to see if I'm supposed to add or replace any parts. I wish the instructions were as clear as Eduard PE, however I'm very impressed with the quality of the PE itself. You can not see what PE was installed, most of it is so tiny my camera didn't pick it up at this distance. The bow and stern areas is where most of the detail work will be I suspect.

BTW, here are the 3 PE trees for the bow and stern deck girders.

Oh you have some serious work ahead of you...

I need to spray the Linoleum deck to the bow and stern before moving on since the hanger overhang will make it impossible to spray later.

This is going to be one awesome build when its done! I wonder if someone may have made their own instructions sheet for this build to incorporate all the PE into it.
