Yup… I’m sure. And that’s why you can’t trust museum aircraft to be solid reference for such details. They are good for overall shape and other generic stuff. But details such as painting, antennas, cockpits are best referenced from period photos. Fortunately the SBD is very well covered.

Anytime my friend. You know me about trying to keep true to the originals. I think I spend more time looking online for photo reference nowadays than I do at my workbench actually building or painting.

It's good to wonder, that's a perfectly normal response! If you didn't wonder, I would be concerned. As it stands, this is a fantastic way to learn about the way aircraft were not only designed but how they were built and maintained during their mostly too brief lives. I think in my case it was 2-1/2 months before the particular Bebe crashed.

Unfortunately, since Joe Baugher’s site appears to be down, I can’t currently trace the history of the aircraft I intend to build. But that might be a good thing as it keeps me from getting too wrapped around the axle on this project.
