Maybe it's a torque thing. Long boom means less power required to counteract torque.

jeaton01 wrote: Mon Feb 05, 2024 11:38 am The Chinook is a very compact helicopter especially when you consider its lifting capacity. A better comparison of size is rotor area and freight volume and weight lifting capacity. But the visual impact of that is less.
I've flown aboard Hueys, Blackhawks, Kiowas, Cayuses, and Chinooks, plus one of those AS 350 types.... The Chinook is the only one that you can drive in and out of. :hmm:
That is one big gunship for a dedicated attack chopper only to have such a large fuselage as the Havoc does. The Hind is 5 feet longer, but it does have a troop compartment behind the cockpit.
When I get the Airfix Chinook later in the year I'll do a side by side. I mean, obviously the Chinook is the bigger aircraft, I was just surprised how big the footprint of the Havoc was by comparison. The AH-64 on the same shelf looked a lot smaller.

The Mil-28 does have a small cargo compartment, apparently big enough to rescue a downed crew if needs be.

The Hind can do more than rescue a downed aircrew, it can carry an 8 man squad as well as a weapons load. It’s a pretty bad ass machine… even after all of these years.

Did not know that about the Havoc
While the Mi-28 is not intended for use as a transport, it does have a small passenger compartment capable of carrying three people. The planned purpose of this is the rescue of downed helicopter crews.

I've heard great things about these sanding sticks from Mike (Medic). And I need the colors for my Shturmovik and have heard good things about these paints as well so I thought I'd give them a try given the convenient 4 color set.

I have a few bottles of AK Interactive Real Color paint. Great stuff, sprays nice and smooth. Once all.my Testors Model Master are gone, AK Interactive Real Color will be my go to paints.

John, you're gonna LOVE the AK Real Colors with Mr Leveling Thinner. I have never worked with better paints for airbrushing than that combo.
