For that “something else” on the wheels, here is a thought. Both sides were usually operating from grass fields for the most part. At least the fighters were. As opposed to all weather concrete airfields. So some sort of earthen weathering in those areas...

Landing gear looks great, Kenny! Different ways to get the shiny part. A nice chrome silver can be brush painted on. I've also seen some people use a Molotow Liquid Chrome pen for these types of situations.

Tire weathering is something that I'm grappling with too.

I opted to brush on the chrome. That Tamiya X-11 brushes on real nice, I love that stuff.

As to the tires, I have my oils and pigments. I think I can make this happen LOL, we’ll see. It’s one of those details that can, I think, take a solid model to just “okay.” At least that’s been my experience. No more afterthoughts.

I like Model Master Enamel Chrome Silver for shiny silver. Check out how grain-free it is compared to Tamiya X-11...

The graininess of Tamiya’s chrome silver has been a big complaint for a lot of people, yeah. And it is most certainly that- grainy. Now, their Flat Aluminum on the other hand is much finer. And I use these two interchangeably, often. I don’t mind so much the chrome silver on small things. But I don’t care for it for big jobs. That’s where something like that Mr. Color would come in handy. I think I’m going to try that. And I’ll get the Testor’s one as well because I like how they brush.

Have never even paid attention to the graininess of Tamiyas silver... however, now when you "mention" with pictures and all....

I am not the right person to say which one.. But I would perhaps, looking at the comparision, go for non-Tamiya...

But that's just my 2 cents..
