My guess is that is an air manifold. Air intake into the cylinders.

I actually found one build of this kit! Fella spent a year doing it, too. Wow. His modified resin cast engine versus the kit engine is very interesting!

Seeing how I’ve never cast anything myself, I’d probably be going the Evergreen route to make it all up...

I think I screwed up somewhere with the undercoat of the nose; I airbrushed some Tamiya fine white primer on the area right in front of the bonnet and the primer cracked as though there was interference underneath. I stopped immediately and set the piece aside to polish out the area later. Since Tamiya sticks quite well, I do not know the cause. I am pretty sure once I polish this out, I will take a break. I was pushing too hard with too many steps here, and lost sight of surface preparation.

After 400-600-800 polishing:

Yeah, Tamiya White Primer sticks to pretty much any surface. I’ve never had that happen myself, but for it to crack means there is usually some incompatable reaction with something below. And I presume the previous layer had plenty of time to dry.

Weird.
Thinking about brushing some CA on, letting that cure. Sand. Redo the primer. Any thoughts?

Sanding/polishing and then some sort of wipe like Plastic Prep to clean off any residue should do the trick
