How will you paint these colors? I am so frustrated with greens and green violets and green violet browns! Grr! Let me know! I will live vicariously through your work!

How are you able to preserve the panel lines? Looks sharp, clean and pure as well as bright and shiny! No more calling her "Unlucky!" She is coming along beautifully!!!

All the best from warm, dank Wuppertal with additional tempests (not the beautiful aircraft – LOL).
Yeah, it will be the Red X by KG51 (because Rheine where it was based is close to my hometown).
It is a bit tricky with that plane, because it seems that this production number is not historical
confirmed and missing in production numbers of Messerschmidt. Maybe it was repaired or
reassembled with new components. So the camouflage allows some degrees of freedom. Lower side
is supposed to be RLM 76, wings RLM 81 / 82, maybe RLM 82/83. I think on the fuselage I’ll use RLM
74/75 on the top, and RLM 02 mottling over RLM 76 with some dots of RLM 74/75. Also some NMF
sections might be nice too. It is the first time I am using Gunze for RLMs….
Remember it is a Matchbox kit, and that’s what it should look like. Also it is supposed to look like a
used aircraft.
To the Mustang:
She will always be the Unlucky one, maybe Have No Luck, because we did a loooooooong journey
together. Started in the early 2000 years, it stayed untouched in a corner, was testbed for coloring.
The kit has really shape issues. And then I wanted to finish it quickly because I didn’t want to see it
anymore on my workbench. And then… u know what happened with the first color layers. On
Monday it was ready to be repainted. But when I prepared Have-No-Luck for repainting, the lower
fuselage areas cracked at the glue-seams.
I guess it will be finished now on the weekend.
Concerning the panel lines: By using that oven cleaner to remove old color layers, almost the entire
paint washed off. I should have rescribed some filling sections, but I just wanted to finish.

A favorite.

On Red X, the fuselage looks very light gray based upon the artist's rendering. The only search of note I turned up were documents from the RAF Museum indicating that the museum painted a captured bird as "Red X" at one point. I will add a link to the documents, if you are curious!

Is the Matchbox model from the time when Revell took over? The decal sheet for Matchbox Red X has Revell's name on it.... I am afraid I know very little of Matchbox history. Would you know the context of the inclusion of Revell's name? Is this simply one company taking over another?

After more than 10 years Have-No-Luck is finished. Now for me she is a beauty.
