Sensational photographs man! This is what makes following this so much fun!

Bruce, I think you can pull off that Life magazine pic of the 10th Panzer Kfz.250.

Mark,

Glad you are enjoying the thread—which has mutated in a wonderful way into a current state of affairs for armor! Man, it is cold tonight in SoCal. I have been polishing the chrome frames of Marcel Breuer's "Cesca" Chairs for the past two hours using FLITZ Paste Polish. No, this is not the product featuring the guy on the boat, this is a "Premium Polishing Product." That is 3 P s in one line of ad copy. So, you know it is powerful... and also is a butt-load of work.

Flitz Paste Polish

A concentrated cream unsurpassed in its abilit to clean, polish and deoxidize
can be used on brass, copper, silver plate, sterling silver, chrome, stainless steel, nickel, bronze, solid gold, aluminum, painted surfaces, glass, plexiblass, plastics, fiberglass and eisenglass

Yes, it’s chilly alright. The temperature on the thermometer in my car this morning said 37*... To quote one of my drill sergeants from long ago (in a very deep gravelly voice) “BRRRRRRRRR...”
Between getting up way before the sun, and these chilly early mornings, I’m having flashbacks to Hohenfels.... at least I don’t have to share the shower and sink with 50 of my closest buddies like there...
Have fun polishing... :giggles:

Well, I haven't any memories like that Carlos, but I can recall a few mornings in Minnesota that were quite chilly indeed. Your days of rising before the sun and then getting home after sunset remind me of those times I worked for Coco's in Culver City. I think I went five months without ever seeing the sun.

Now Bruce, finish up that polishing and get back to these models man. I want to see you finish something! There are contests coming up that I want to see you enter. Your work so far is already award-worthy; I imagine you'll acquire loads of trophies once they are done. The first one close to you is the Valleycon on March 6; right up there in the Pasadena convention center. I hope to meet you there! Perhaps I'll even have the Hellcat done by then! :bag: :lashed:

Hi Carlos and Duke... or should it be “Hey Carlos and Duke!” That sounds better to me already. I came home from work and the last thing I wanted to do was polish the remaining four chairs. I would have done anything but polish chairs—even assemble links of Dragon treads. I forced myself to go out on the patio wearing socks over rubber gloves like a demented masseuse and pamper those four chairs with a much needed German-American chemical bath with complimentary sock rubdown. I will go out in a few minutes to bring them inside. Then I start assembling seats and backs.

:bag:

Duke! You are most kind and I hope to see your models winning awards for many years to come!

Pfffffttttt…… 37 degrees in considered a heat wave in Central New York winters. I have seen some folks wear shorts out and about even at colder temps.

You definitely know more about what cold is... that's for sure. Although I am from Pennsylvania, the coldest of the cold weather for me was going to school outside of Chicago, not having a car, riding a bike in winter. There were days when the wind chill was 50 to 60 below. I hope you and your family are having a wonderful holiday season and of course I want to wish you a Happy New Year, sir! All the best.

We hit 65 yesterday...then severe storms, wind advisories and a few tornado warnings late afternoon. Sheesh.

Hi Lyle! You know when a project is running on fumes we talk model kits or the weather! Glad you are doin’ alright. My good buddy Matthew wore his hip out and had a replacement done, so I know a little secondhand what the recovery is like. He’s finally hitting the gym. Great to hear you are shedding weight rather than adding. I’m sure your heart thanks you, too! You take care. Maybe find a helper to clean out the modeling area. I am a big believer in a good winter cleaning. Hire a local gal or guy and have them follow your orders! Happy New Year!

Hmmm....has possibilities. Except, I'm not sure what is in there anymore!
