Some research I am doing on the original camo, including a sample of the painted canvas. There were variations, and color shifts and so forth.

The interior framework was chrome alloy steel of various diameters (smaller diameter used to support the seat). Prior to adding the seat cushion and belts, I assembled the components per instructions. I used a minimum amount of gel CA. Not my first choice, but I made it work. My glue joins are akin to spot welds. I didn’t want to fuse the components with cement, because the alignment is tricky. The seat braces are toed in slightly.

I did thin out the thickness of the seat itself. Then I sprayed Mr Surfacer 1000 to lighten the kit plastic which is dark blue. Followed up with Light Gray Gunze.

Since Bruce is building two Fokkers (I think), you should be fine!

If I had an inkling of interest in WWI subjects, I'd accept the invitation. But no, I'm probably more likely to build a ship or car model than a biplane! Not that there is anything wrong with biplanes (or triplanes)! Gotta conserve the mojo!

Well, here's a cameo of an Eduard Siemens Schuckert SSD IIIa I built some time back as a stand in for the Boche. I attacked it not knowing it was their first kit with the complete interior made up of PE. I was a babe in the woods on this one.



As for the Se5, I worked on thinning and airfoiling the struts today in between putting more decals on a 1/32 F-15, and also fit a steel shaft to the prop and a brass tube in the engine block. Before and after shown on the struts. Filled a few sinkholes here and there as well. I also worked on the pilot, which seems to be the same in all these Aurora kits. It looks like someone stuck their heads in a vise and smashed them a little flat. I stole the trunk, head, and right arm from a figure in the Monogram P-61, and attached it to the legs and left arm of the kit figure. Did a little Mr. Surfacer work to thicken up the right arm which had a short sleeve shirt.
