Beautiful! I love your approach. What you wrote about the thickness of a prior camo color makes sense. I have long thought that camouflage colors at scale is one of the more challenging effects for a modeler to pull off. Maybe it’s me but I feel natural metal is a lot simpler. NM is surface prep to the tenth power. However I feel camo is all about paint applications. Your solution is elegant and your results are really beautiful. Really beautiful work.

I am glad Joe to see your painting approach!
I have been planning to do a similar approch with some of my never-ending projects.
A second layer of camo color definitely hides/removes the beautiful marble pattern but this approach makes sure this does not happen.
The masking must of course be really carefully done, to avoid suddenly sort of a "line" between the different camo colors.
Very nice build of course also!

I’m trying to wrap my head around how to get the colors to see the marbling underneath. I understand the base marbling but how do you spray the colors on top without losing the marbling? Is it the low psi, light coats, distance when spraying?

I am sure there are a number of methods, mine being probably the most simple of them all; just spraying several very very thin layers on top of the marbled black basing and this way build a Semi-transparent top layer. I was surprised the first time how easy it actually is and how great results you get! No turn back for me!

Tom: Kari described exactly the way that I do it. I use light coats hitting all the paint border areas first as to not get too light a coat there because if there's not enough paint applied at that area then you'll have to come back later to touch up the noticeably lighter area of paint between the color borders of the camo.
Got some more done this morning. Almost ready for the painting the lighter undersides of her after some more color border touch up:

That looks cracking Joe - a very nicely applied bit of paint.
I've painted like that as well, but with brushes. I actually drew the demarcation lines onto the primer with a water soluble pencil and then painted in the colours individually. As you said, getting decent coverage at the edges can be a problem - you've done yours well.
