Well I agree to a point Bruce. What convinces me to work on something is the desire to work on a certain project that comes sometimes even before I get in the room. Sometimes that desire is replaced by another when I see some of the things in my workbench. I always leave open the possibilities; unless I'm so close to finishing something that I just focus my drive on that.

And boy oh boy do I have a hodgepodge for y’all today!

The Stuka’s propeller is undergoing the paint process. I’m doing it now because I always put that off until the end and then rush it and end up with a propeller painted whatever color it’s supposed to be. From now on, I want to paint my props better, give them more life, so this is being painted up to resemble a very well-worn propeller. I’ve also been working on fills in some of the seams on the Stuka’s cowling and that is going very well, they passed my Mr. Surfacer Test. Work wiring-up the cockpit in the P-47D Razorback’s cockpit is coming along swimmingly! Rods for the throttle/mixture controls are installed, along with custom wiring on the floorboard and lower quadrants of the sidewalls, AAAAND— Black 1’s fills passed my Mr. Surfacer Test, the canopy is now masked, and you know what that means: it’s just about time to paint! Painting on “Black 1” will begin as soon as I finish painting the armor plate for inside the canopy and install it and that ought to be done tomorrow.

Those are some beautifully detailed cockpit parts. I can’t wait to see what you do with them and some paint...

Thanks Carlos! I just have four more custom additions to add:

1. The wiring coming out the back of the gauges
2. The thin rod that comes out of the front of the stick
3. & 4. The thin cables that run along each side of the seat

I actually bought and built that exact kit back in the day. Snake decal on unpainted grey plastic!

I love the cockpit details you've added. Nice touch on the throttle linkages... many modelers neglect these on US fighter aircraft.

That’s one of the coolest things about the cockpits in US aircraft, those cool linkages.

As to the kit parts themselves, man oh man are they great Carlos, I agree. You almost don’t need to do hardly anything, but I wanted to go bananas in the cockpit with this build. Whilst I was (doing what probably only barely passes for- researching the Razorback, I ended up really becoming fond of that aircraft, and I decided I wanted to take it as far as I could and then double-down with it. Had to. The airplane is just so damn cool!

OH, and concerning “Jake The Snake”, my Stuka... I been reading some debate about whether the snake adorned both the port and starboard sides or just the port side. I’m leaning toward keeping it port side only, as per this right here which I found while “researching”:

That port side shot is not the same aircraft. Unless two aircraft carried the same artwork. Here is a clear shot of the unit codes T6+DP



And another shot, but with the fuselage codes not visible. It does have the aircraft ID code letter “D” visible on the front of the wheel spat. The ground crew members look to be the same two as in the first photo.
