Gentlemen,
Have that many days gone by? Holy cow! Parenting and working from home have this weird side-effect where several days can go by without me noticing whenever stuff gets really busy. Plus, after I did the wiring on that engine I felt spent. Like I needed some time to recover. That took a lot of thought energy, as well as physical energy during execution. I didn’t have time for modeling stuff this weekend, as my wife sang at numerous masses on Saturday and Sunday (she has a side-job as the Cantor at a nearby Catholic Church) to fill-in for a gal who was on vacation, and subsequently, I spent most of my weekend partying with my babies. I discovered a great Jazz station on Pandora, and it opened my mind (and my babies’ minds) up to Charles Mingus, Ellington, and newer stuff like Caro Emerald. We had a blast. Rolled out of bed yesterdaydaybmorning into The Week From Hell, at work. Plus- I had a consult with an oral surgeon today. Gotta get an infected wisdom tooth pulled (and the other one too, for good measure). I have an 18 hour shift on Friday, but I’ll be working on fills and priming on my Corsair as I have time this week.

Just some very small fills. I’ve never built wings like this before, and disputed my best efforts, there were a few spots in need of sealing. Instead of Tamiya putty, I opted for Mr. Hobby putty to try it out. We’ll see. Tomorrow the fills will be sanded, and then primer will go on.
I’ve been tossing around the idea of two- later chipping on the wings. I’m not sure that some primer and bare metal needs to show in :48 scale or not. I’m thinking about it...
Anyway, back to it!

Suggestion for wing fills—based on what I’m doing—so take with a pinch of salt and a shot of tequila—
- 1. Sand the seam with 800-1000 grit with water.
2. Open Mr White on a napkin, because volatile seam filler is under pressure.
3. Gently squeeze a drop, bubble, tiny dot on the tip of a possibly gloved finger.
4. Run the length of the bead in one direction.
5. Let dry two minutes but not cure. Wet sand with 800.
6. Repeat steps 3-5 until the seam is full.
7. Let cure.
It’s just a suggestion of steps but I feel pretty good about stating this, in case you wonder how I do it. You can go “commando” and forego the gloves, but of course observe all precautions when handling and breathing fillers.

Your method is pretty much the same as mine except for I haven’t been sanding until after it’s cured. It’s woeked okay so far, but I’m gonna try the specific method you mentioned, next time!

That and “Jackie Brown,” good stuff. The music, too.
I only mention the technique because I like you want to fill the seam with most of the filler inside the seam, not on either side. I have also gone total commando and used the method outlined with a pure CA finish — I like 3M brand 15 second CA best — by drawing a bead on the seam then doing a fast smooth down. I filled my lion’s share of AMT thick plastic seams with a combo of Mr White and CA top coat. My goal is less sanding and no feathering needed—but right now I am in the midst of pure putty overload on an old kit—but it’s still the same theory.
