Work starts, as so often, with the cockpit.
I have decided, as with my previous finished build (the Zero), to use only minimum amount of PE parts; the belts and some other details that are not provided in styrene. I just don't like PE stuff that much.
Here a small PE part is needed
Priming work, wanted to use MRP:s excellent primer, but could not find my new bottle anywhere.
But luckily I had, equally as good, Mr Finisher Surfacer 1500 Black.
I let bits and pieces cure over the night and continued this morning with MRP's Interior green. The instructions say, 90% interior green and 10% flat black, which I did not do. After some weathering of the cockpit, I don't believe anyone could tell if there is 10% black mixed in the green or not..
Next steps will be
a) work with the instrument panel. Will not use the PE parts but instead decals. They look more natural in my humble opinion.
b) start the mixed process of weathering along with assembling the cockpit & the PE belts
c) detail work here and there
d) whatever was missed in a-c

The cockpit is more or a less ready. A little bit challenging, you would need more than one pair of hands. But after some healthy struggling, the pieces are glued together.

I wanted the show the belts slightly differently than usually, so the left belt was hanging outside the seat. Looks ok, but unfortunately when the pit is sitting in the fuselage, one does not see it at all. Instead, looks sort of strange with one "missing" belt.
Oh well, next time perhaps checking first if it's visible or not..

The slightly complex wheel well construction is done, also a little bit hassle and a desire to have more hands or at least fingers.
In general & so far, the fit is very good, nice details all in all.
Eduard is still behind Tamiya when it comes to engineering & smart solutions, but hey, Rome was not either built in a day!
Some minor touch-ups still needed, but otherwise the build is in a stage to get the fuselage halves mated!

Todays goal was to reach to the first milestone; closing up the fuselage. And that is precisely what happened today!
Some pushing and pulling to get all pieces aligned, but nothing too challenging.
The next steps, according to the instructions, is the landing gears. But I will jump over this step due to practicalities.
So the next step will be the wings!
