I got a cert and an Academy TBM-3 Avenger. (Which is essentially a re box Accurate Miniatures)

Very nice and congrats on the award. As for the seam filling; I use Mr. Surfacer 500 and Mr. Hobby Thinner to do the same thing. The nice thing about it is that the Mr. Hobby Thinner doesn't attack the plastic and is always the same consistency. Still, it feels good to know I'm using the same techniques as a Master such as yourself. Maybe someday my work will look as good. Keep going man and thanks for the tutorial!

first one was an Academy 1/350 Bismark and the third was an Academy 1/35 Hetzer.

that's a good tip. tried the Mr. Surfacer but never the Mr. Hobby Thinner. think the problem with these acetone nail polish removers is that their ingredient are different from one manufacture vs the other.

Some more posting on the exhaust pipes. Everything is done with Tamiya paints, as that's pretty much what I have in Surabaya. Here, masking the inner side so it doesn't get any overspray



A basic spray of Tamiya Titanium Silver



This is the second coat of Tamiya Titanium Silver mixed with Tamiya Clear Yellow.



Here, masking the turkey feathers. time consuming but its a must. I wanted to get different toning between the overlapped petals and the ones that are not.



Final look fresh from airbrushing. no washing was done at this stage. I cant seem to see the different tones, not that apparent in this image

A unique feature on F100-PW-229 engines: charcoal-coloured nozzle petals:



The petals are made up from carbon fibre, by th way.

Another word on Gunze thinners.
I'm assuming, by stating "Mr.Hobby thinner", Duke is actually referring to Mr.COLOR Thinner.
Mr.HOBBY COLOR Thinner is only intended to thin the water-based, "aqueous" acrylics. In contrast, Mr.COLOR Thinner dilutes pretty much any product from the range of Gunze finishing products.

Got that Erik. way darker than I thought!! gotta rework the whole thing, but ok. just a minor setback in a major operation....

Nothing critical, though. Only requiring some extra time.
