Thanks Portman… and good luck on the SU-27. exciting project it should be. the A/C has a nice section of exposed metal parts and it would be very interesting to work that section out.

Progress so far on the canopy masking. I am getting closer in painting this Fulcrum!



Critique so far is (a) the way the plastic parts are attached to their trees: on the side of the clear parts. for the front wind shield, that would mean a scar on the near-perfect clear plastic. even though I have sand and polish it.. the scar is still their… fait… but is there.



Another comment I have is the way the front wind shield is attached. as a borderless frame, you need to be very careful on what glue to choose. I have been very successful in using TET for the cement. but on this one. the capillary action of the TET went too far and I could see a visible mark of "glue" on the surface area that bonds with the fuselage.

I just admired the beautiful high gloss of those clear parts. How did you do this?

I love it too, don't you. To get the high gloss, it was was just about getting the canopy a regular dip in Future. The parts were too large for my steel bowls... so I raided the kitchen and got a used plastic container that has a lid (like the Tupperware thing) and I kept it there for three days.. pricipally, its like the video below.

Cool video Monty, I Future dip all my clear as well. I found laying with the bottom edge on a piece of paper towel helps wick away excess Future on the edges. Can't wait to see some color on this build!

What´s this sound in the background? Sounds like a kind of machinery.

BTW: I never mask my Futured canopies with Maskol or other stuff containing ammonia. This stuff eats Future.
I also don´t mask any clear parts as long as I can smell the Future. A clear sign it´s still drying.

ah, great tip handiabled. never tried using paper towel before. thought the fine threads would accidentally stick to the Future.

I was thinking about doing a West German Fulcrum until I got this last week: Malaysian Air Force MiG-29 decal sheet from http://www.scalenutz.com. The camouflage is the same as Russian Air Force of grey and green.



I've used their decals before on two of my SU-27 and a MiG-21F13 kit. They are thin, in register, but just a tad to thin, so needs some extra careful in handling them

The background noise? thats the sound of large AC blowers at a mall just next to my apartment. yeah.. they are a bit noisy and you can still hear them even when all the windows are closed. Didn't realise it went into the video. LoL

Hey guys.. Finally I laid my first coat of paint … XF-1 as a base coat. Man, i tell you… painting black on a 1/32 jet aircraft like the MiG-29 is soooooo boring. There is just a lot of area to cover! so, I had to take a rest between sprays….
