That is a tough choice... I personally live the low viz all gray schemes. But the RAF Gray & Green camo looks so mean and warlike. I know the RAF Phantom never went to wraparounds in those colors like the Tornado, Jaguar, and Harrier, but it still looks so good in the early scheme.

She’s looking like a Phantom indeed! I like it! And just my two cents- I really like that green X gray camouflage. It’s sexy as hell.

Monochrome! That is, if my two cents plain is important! Shows the form best. Also what John wrote about Z-M is really good; he has so much experience, like Carlos and the others. I just was thinking about all of the “Not another Revell/ Tamiya” Build threads I see and ignore. Pick your subject and level of detail you feel will suit your mindset. I like to dream in full detail, but for me, I need lower parts count to focus, however for you—and this matters in this thread—I thought for you the Z-M Phantom would be a major statement of purpose.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for that - on reflection I think I'll go for my original plan and do the low viz scheme - I just need to source some Barley Grey.

As for getting a ZM or Tamiya kit, thanks for your input too - I thought for a while about it and couldn't decide - was it REALLY what I wanted to build, was it even me? Both kits are totally beautiful, but didn't really float my boat enough to press the order button. I did also wonder if they might be TOO good. I know I tired to build the Hobbyboss Tunnan last year, but the panel detail was just too fine for a hairy stick

In the end it was Bruce's comment about 'not another Revel or Monogram build' that swung it... I really fancied doing something not the norm - time for something different.

Coming Soon to Portman Productions Inc...

So I've gone and got myself one of these, and the Eduard BIG BIG ed set to go with it. I'm not too up on working with PE and will need to get myself some new PE working tools, but it'll be worth it, and it'll push me - which was kind of the point.

It'll sure as hell be a good display model with a full interior.

Cheers!

Ah, the C-130... always an enjoyable ride... especially low like that one...

For Barley Grey, I know Humbrol, and I’m pretty sure that Xtra Color both make it.
