Yes they did keep precise records. But many such items were destroyed during the late war period to prevent capture. Or misplaced/lost then or during the immediate aftermath of the war. It is a common practice in various militaries to destroy such items to prevent their capture by the enemy in order to deny their use for intelligence purposes.

I basically hit a wall with internet research. Without a work number to identify the aircraft itself I wonder if the decal scheme was pulled from a photo. I have not found the photo yet, either.

I hate running into brick walls like that...

The resin props look gorgeous! You may want to think about sawing the pour stubs off the spinners before you paint. They are small and will be hard to hold during the sawing process. I'd hate to see any painting effort get compromised due to rough handling.

Good point, John. I was worried since the blades are the size of pine needles what would happen if one popped off a support, which is why I drilled holes in the hub-blocks. I also need to work out a painting sequence. More or less:

Primer + Silver + RLM or Silver + RLM (no Primer). I think I need a neutral base under the red, though, which means a “spot coat” of primer on top of the hub.

That’s what’s been holding me back from resin. The sawing....

Honestly as you move up in scale size of the casting block does increase, which makes sawing more of a challenge. I suppose with these smaller parts fragility is a factor. A good saw—Zona makes a very good series of cutting tools—will make short work of even the big blocks on 1/32 pieces.

Okay. I did some research.

VDM - Vereinigte Deutsch Metallwerke or United German Metalworks founded in 1930 built the propellers. Most of you know this. I did not. So this was good news. I now know that this propeller with controllable pitch is made of metal and will adjust my approach accordingly.

The next issue will be whether or not the hub was black or black green. At the moment, I am inclined to follow Owl's profile and paint the hub black green with RLM 23 marking colors.
