I would “train the plastic” of the fuse to come together with hot water or steam....

Thanks, Bruce. Here, in the Ohio valley, it is a way of life! Zyrtec or Claritin help. Tried to train it. Apparently beer doesn’t work. On the plastic, anyway. It “feels like” that warp will be close-ablelyness (is that a word?).

It may take several tries to train the plastic. I would give this several tries. Rubber band (or gum band as they say in PA) the long halves together, then try dipping the nose into hot (but not piping hot) water several times until the plastic heats up. I also use a small steamer for this. You may have one of those in your home. Just suggestions. I have a similar issue with no locating pins, but not a fit issue with the fuselage however I am keeping the fuse taped together so it will stay together long enough to glue it together (if that makes any sense).

Yes, makes sense. You have a way of explaining things. It seems to take a very small amount of pressure to close that gap. So, given my penchant for knocking things over on the desk, etc. I'm not sure really hot water is a good thing these days! I'll give it more thought, however.

I understand completely about not wanting hot water on your bench and that has nothing to do with tempting fate, it’s good common sense.

I was taught by my dad the railroad guy to never resort to clamping a join. His way was tough to follow as a kid and continues to be a challenge. Many modelers solve fit problems by using clamps and it works.

I appreciate that you follow your own star when choosing kits. I was really bummed when the photo bucket disaster occurred because I most wanted to see pictures of your Revell Huey build. You’re one of three model builders I know who have built that one.

Using a steamer will help. Just know you have to do this more than a few times, and always with the knowledge that a little heat goes a long way very fast with plastic.

I understand your Dad's point. A clamped joint will always be under stress and I guess more likely to pop open. Putting the halves on a flat surface, there seems to be a high area in about the middle of the fuselage, more pronounced on the right half. It will "rock" back and forth. I am not sure how I want to approach this, except to be "verwy, verwy careful".

I have some of the pictures of the 1/32 Huey. I'll re-post them after a bit. I need to go find what I unloaded from PB and see if there are more.

Not much to see. I think I have come to a major understanding of what is going on in my little brain...Paralysis of Analysis. Yep, overthinking is a deadly thing. Just build the cotton-pickin' lthing. Anyway, got some paint on the interior as well as the pilot's seats. These types of kits (short-run, mixed media) are a whole new and strange critter to me. Interesting, but strange.



The clear parts are drying from a bath in Future...as are the clear pieces for the 247.

Those seats looks great though, and I think you’ve bone a good job so far. I also like how you pick kits and subjects to build. You have a knack for picking cool and interesting airplanes and this is certainly no exception- the T 50/Bobcat/etc. are just totally cool aircraft. Great airframe, great personality. I dig it!

Thank you, Kenny! I do buy kit that catch my fancy. Sometimes, it is a spur of the moment thing. Always liked the Bobcat. Many, many years ago there was one in the hanger of the flying service I hung around a lot. the owner also had a Merlin or Allison on a stand. Great guy. Flew C-46s over the hump.
