Looking good Stuart, around the nose is the only place I think needed filler on mine.

Not s bad fit all told. I had to use a little bit of filler along some of the joins, especially around the nose. Had a bit of a mishap with some some fogging on the windscreen which is bloody annoying - I'll just say it's 1/48 scale condensation

The cockpit looks great, I like the addition of the wiring harness in the wheel wells -good show there- and I’m happy to see her put together! Stewart my man, hot damn you’ve got yourself an airplane! Very good my man!

That is such a great looking profile and shape! Wow. Looks exactly like a P-51!!

But, I kid. Great work.

Bugger...

It would appear that I've knackered the windscreen - The fogging is so bad it's spread all over the part to the extent that I can't ignore it.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get spares from Tamiya?

:hmm: I'm beginning to think I'm cursed - 90% of the aircraft I've tried to build in the past 18 months have gone for a burton...

Perhaps it's time to hang up my sprue cutters...

I don’t know about in the UK, but here in the USA Tamiya has excellent customer service on replacing parts. Look on their website for Tamiya Europe about parts replacement.

Stewart,

I am not unfamiliar with the frustration you’re feeling right now. I’ve been there. I’m on Corsair redo #4. This kind of crap happens.

I don’t know if Tamiya will replace that part or not. Screw it. It doesn’t matter. If they won’t, I will buy you a new kit just so you can have that part, and the rest can go into your box full of spares.

Email Tamiya. If they can’t help, I will.

You’re a good modeler, and you do great work. All this is is a bump in the road. You’re going to be okay and this model will be okay.

Please ping me if Tamiya won’t help. I’ve bought a whole new kit for myself before just so I can get a part or two that I needed. I’m due to help out somebody else. And if it keeps my pal in the game, so much the better so let me know.

Thanks Guys! I've contacted the UK agent for Tamiya so we'll see how we go.

Kenny dude - that's awesome of you but I couldn't let you do that. It's not the cheapest of kits and the shipping would be huge, but you've no idea how much I appreciate the offer and I really thank you for it. Buy that awesome wife of yours a bottle of wine instead and toast the modelling gods for me for help. You have given me an idea though - sounds stupid but I've never thought of getting another kit just for spares :hmm: If Tamiya don't come through I'll keep a look out for a 2nd hand kit.

This bird will be done - at least the delay does give me a chance to build up the engine pods and gear before I get to paint and decals.

Cheers guys!

Ok, Stewart, no problem. and I’m glad you got a hold of the Tamiya rep.

In terms of new kit purchases, yeah bro, I’ve done that. Not ashamed to admit it. I remember cracking open my Eduard 1:32 109 long-term decompression project. The fuselage was warped and wouldn’t fit together to my liking. It was bad. So I bought another kit, and bass-bing, I had a fuse that for together nicely and a whole bunch of spare parts. Did that with my 1:48 Corsair kit whenever I dropped it and broke it (needed the spars that hold the wings on). Shoot, I’ve bought four of those Tamiya Corsairs in 1:38 and one in 1:32. I donit if that’s what it takes LOL I get a little obsessive

Stuart, good luck with the hunt for replace the canopy. Assuming you didn’t break it, use it to practice polishing. Will Pattinson has a decent YouTube video on this.
