Thanks, Joe. Appreciate the support. I am really struggling with the "how" on the paint. My airbrushes are not behaving, either. I brushed a bit of the Tamiya XF-7 Flat Red on the piece i cut yesterday and it is close. Still waffling on painting all of them or using what I can cut out.

Man, Lyle, you got some mad skills bro! I could never get decals and masks figured out like that, much less printed out. You are DA MAN!

Got some white appliec. Tamiya X-2 Gloss white. is pretty nice stuff. There is some "orange peel", but I'm not sure I want to mess with trying to wet sand it out.



I've decided to make and cut my own masks. The red that my printer dishes out is just enough off to stand out more than I would like...so, here we go. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to mask the black pinstriping?

Thanks, Stuart! I may be about done cutting masks for all but the wheel pan is. Still don’t know exactly what I’m going to do for the black pinstripe or the wheel pants. And I realized I did not paint the hatch door.

Well done Lyle! That coat of white is far better than I could do. For some reason my white coats never come out smooth and clean. Even if they do, they get dirty pretty quick afterwards, even when I gloss coat over it for protection.

As for the black line, one idea would be to re-size the one mask you make so that it is about 1/32" bigger, assuming you will be masking the white. After masking the white with the smaller mask, paint black along the edge of the mask. Then add the larger mask so that the black is covered and then shoot the red. Of course, test the masks first to be sure they will line up properly once you cut the real ones. Not sure how you would do the wheel pants though. Best of luck with that my friend.

I think that idea has merit..I will give it a try. Wheel pants will likely be decals...far enough away from the Tamiya red, the difference should not stand out. I hope.
