I don’t remember the guys name, (I’m terrible learning names) but he mentioned something about you and a raffle he was running when he met you. Older guy around our age, clean cut, medium height, brown hair, light complexion, thin build, had been in the navy.

How did I miss this one? I love seeing simple dioramas like yours. I’ve seen a few like yours as simple dioramas at model show entries. Sometimes less is more. Well done!

Thanks Tom. A simple base like that helps put the build into context. Yesterday I went to Modelzona, the annual show put on by our local Phoenix IPMS chapter, and was asked to help judge in armor. One of the caveats for judging was that unless the build is enters specifically into the diorama category, the base, and any figures are not to be considered in judging the actual model. And I will tell you what, there sure are skilled builders in Arizona.

They had a model show in Phoenix last weekend? Wow! How was the turnout? Cause Nascar had their Championship Weekend there at the same time.

Yes, the show was actually in Mesa, and it was well attended. There were 504 separate entries total- from individual figures or busts to multi item dioramas. There were even some guys from my old clubs in CA, plus from another club there who drove out to participate. And there were some seriously fantastic builds there. I took some photos and will get them posted up on another thread later on.

That is so cool. I wanted to go but couldn't afford the hotel fare for the one night. Much less cover meals. Getting a ride isn't all that easy too since I seem to be out of the way for everyone I know in my club; unless we're going to Antelope Valley. :bag:
