The M48 was the last tank officially named Patton by the US Army. The M60 was named as a "Main Battle Tank", but the M46, M47, and M48 were all named Patton. Even though the M60 was the end of the line for the the evolution of the M26/M46/M47/M48 family. Each one saw some change in armament, drivetrain, power plant, armor/protection, as well as fire control. Not to mention their offshoot of the M103 Heavy Tank.
